The conditioner already has ruled out the Belmont, saying he doesn’t see 1-1/2 miles in this horse. That’s probably a very valid assessment after a dull final eighth in winning the Blue Grass and a final ¼ in the Kentucky Derby where he had every shot to catch the winner and wound up narrowly holding on for the place as Audible closed the margin. He could not have trained any better prior to the Derby and was not up to the test on the wet track. On a dry track in Baltimore and at the right price, you could do worse than the champion trainer of 2017 back to defend the Woodlawn Vase he won last year with Cloud Computing. But I’d want to see 3-1 or more odds before a win bet. Since Prairie Bayou in 1993, the only Derby runner-up to win the Preakness was Exaggerator in 2016.
