At Pompano Park tonight the co-features roll in Race 1 and Race 3, both are legs of the Fred Monteleone Memorial with a $12,500 purse. The 0.50 Pick 4 sequence with a 12% takeout has a $30,000 guaranteed pool. The Pick 4 will be my focus and it starts in Race 6.
The drivers with the hottest hands last night at Pompano were David Miller and Tim Tetrick with two wins. Trainer Daniel Gassien led all conditioners with two trips to the winner's circle.
At Cal Expo on Saturday the track was rated "good" and my posted Pick 4 ticket was correct in the second and third legs only. The (2-8-2-9) combination paid $1,521.04 on a 0.20 wager.
Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
2-Uncle Reimus-2nd start after a rest and should be tighter. Fits with this group and looks dangerous.
4-Blueberry Heaven-Nice try from the 10 hole and should be in the hunt for 1st picture of the year.
5-Kotare Yael N-Fits well at this level and Geo.Naps should be able to work a trip.
7-Arsenal-Has good gate speed and could be on the engine or in 2 hole, best to respect despite post.
4-Spirit Shadow-Looks like a major player if he minds manners, MacDonald takes a seat.
5-B Well-Very sharp, may handle the step up in class and does get a good post draw.
7-Rock N Row-Versatile 6-year-old, so Hennessey can blast out or come rolling late.
2-Hot Art-Thinking Plano can trip out from this post and pop at a square price in a competitive race.
3-Manhattan Benny-Benny is the 2-1 ML chalk and on paper figures to be in the hunt but is very camera shy.
6-Surge Seelster-This guy may get overlooked at the windows, has had excuses and could be sitting on a big try.
3-American Hustle-ML chalk got on the engine and never looked back and should get the top again.
4-The Onlyest One-Has been very consistent, finished 2nd to #3 and may be able to reverse the outcome.
6-Rebellious-Will be looking for 5th in a row as Scott Zeron is in town and steers for his father.
0.50 Pick 4
