The Friday night feature at Woodbine Mohawk Park rolls in Race 5, a fillies and mares condition race with a $22,000 purse. The Early 0.20 Pick 4 begins in Race 4, it has the usual $50,000 guaranteed pool and that sequence will be my focus.
Last night's Pick 4 ticket did connect but was very chalky and was not profitable. The driver with the hottest hands at Mohawk on Thursday was Louis Roy with three wins. No trainer on the 10-race card had more than one trip to the winner's circle.
Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
1-Art Angel Baby-Had an excuse last week at this level and could make amends tonight.
3-Pretty Hot-Leads field in money earned in '17 and '18, drops into a spot to shine.
8-HP Pandora-Beaten chalk got on engine and was nipped at wire, could be back to old ways and grind it out.
1-Action Majesty-Finally gets an inside post draw at the right level, best to respect chances.
3-Artistic Madison-Drops off a good effort and 7-year-old shouldn't have any excuses.
1-Big Yellow-Racing well and comes back to the big track, has won here before and will respect in an open race.
3-Sagebrush Sid-Tossing last in slop, looking for better tonight. Roy takes a seat in 3rd start off the bench.
4-Kazimoto-Filions choice and will dismiss last in slop, also 3rd start after a rest and could pop at a square price.
5-Audreys Dream-Missed a start and back on the big track, this is the level where back class may kick-in.
7-Walter Mitty-Drop and has had excuses in last 3 starts, JMac needs to work a trip but could be sitting on a big try.
1-Hello Love-Made a rare break in last and has missed a start, but if ready is a major contender.
2-Vines To Heaven-Will toss last, usually tries hard and Henry should work a better trip this time.
9-Quints Dream-Post is an issue but will use anyway, in at a good level and likes to compete.
