Al Cimaglia: Pompano Park Pick 4 Analysis | Sunday, December 19, 2021

December 19, 2021

The headliners tonight on the 10-race card at Pompano Park are two and three-year-old fillies competing in Florida Breeders Stake Finals. The 0.50 Pick 4 starts in Race 6. The sequence has a $15,000 guaranteed pool with a 12% takeout, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 6

2-Busboy Hanover (9/2)-Comes off a dominant win versus Open II company in the 4th start since arriving in south Florida. Should fit well with this crew and sharp form can continue.
4-When You Dance (7/2)-This Tee Wine trainee moved up to face straight Open company in last. Couldn't top #6 but that was a good effort against this kind. This 6-year-old has won 5 of 16 at the Pomp, Hennessey is steering again, and he will put him in play.
6-Actor Hanover (7/2)-Comes off 3 big efforts at this class and finally connected for a win in last. Looks like a must use.

Race 7

2-Prairie Virtue (5/2)-Braden should have this filly in the pocket behind the one below and look to roll by down the lane. This Florida bred has never missed the board in 12 starts and has 5 pictures. Could offer some value and did beat the morning line choice twice in November.
4-Ifnotmewho (3/5)-This 3-year-old has won 7 of 10 at the Pomp and cashed 2nd place checks in the other 3 starts. Came off a sick scratch and beat #4 by a nose in the slop. Hennessey should be rolling from the jump and looking to make every call a winning one.

Race 8

2-Prairie Panther (2-1)-Boyd picks #5 so Hennessey gets the call and does drop to a better spot for success. Can take an overdue picture with the right trip.
4-Aged Cheddar Hanover (5-1)-Steps-up and will need best to win at this class but did roll the back-half in 54.2 last week. Probably will be bet down off the morning line as replay watchers will be impressed with the wide trip. Should be in the hunt but might be over bet.
5-Alluneedisfaith N (5/2)-Yonkers invader has been facing tough foes and the Art Major 7-year-old will make its Pompano debut. Went on Lasix for one start but qualified here without it. Should be a main player if close to 100%.

Race 9

1-Warrawee Veloce (4-1)-Raced from the back in last and had to go wide when cover stalled. The important elements tonight is the drop to face Open III foes and post relief. Fits better with this kind and should benefit from the rail. This could be the time for a big try.
2-Lincolnjames (5/2)-Left from past 8 at this level in last but pulled up and dropped in 4th. No one was beating stablemate Busboy Hanover, and Hennessey drove a smart race to cash a 2nd place check closing along the pylons. Tonight, the plan could be to leave and get on the point or in the pocket behind the one above. This veteran has 1-big brush and a pilot who knows how to use it.
