Northfield Park starts the week with a 14-race card. The $1.00 Late Pick 4 begins in Race 11. The sequence has a $10,000 guaranteed pool, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 11

5-Bettor's Reward (5/2)-Sugg takes the lines and finished 2nd the last time he was in the bike. Should be forwardly placed and if avoids a slow start this could be the night for an overdue picture.

6-Western Exposure (12-1)-Will swing for a price in race without much form. Makes the 2nd start for the Chupp barn and if Stahl works a sharp steer this 5-year-old could surprise.

Race 12

2-Cougar Bait (9/2)-Looking for improvement in the 2nd start for the Krieser barn. That conditioner is posting 42% winners over the past 30 days. Has the speed to beat this crew and Davis Jr could be aggressive and look to get on the engine.

3-Ogradys First Man (4-1)-Comes off an even effort but was idle over 3 weeks before the start. Northville Downs invader makes the 2nd straight start at Nfld and has the speed to make some noise with the right trip. Monti steers and that's a positive driver change.

5-Western Vacation (9/5)-Takes a meaningful drop. Wrenn has the gate speed to get on the point and not look back.

Race 13

1-Dancin Dragon (2-1)-Has been off since 11-30 but qualified well at the Meadows on 12-13. Yonkers invader had been facing tough foes. Winner of >$77k should relish the company if ready to roll. Has hit the board in 3 of 4 Nfld starts with 1 picture.

6-Dreamfair Charro (7/2)-Claimed at YR by the Burke barn for $40k on 11-1 and broke in the 1st start here. Qualifier at the Meadows was good on 12-13, paced the back-half in 55.1. Should be in the hunt if minds manners.

9-Tanner J (12-1)-Wired the field in last as an odds-on chalk. This will be more difficult but can win without racing on the lead for the entire mile. Should offer a nice price and has the advantage over the 2 above of having its last race at this track.

Race 14

3-Dragon Striker (2-1)-Comes off 2 sharp wins and has made it look easy. This looks like a good spot to try for a 3-peat.

6-Amadeus As (5/2)-Has raced well since being claimed on 11-29 with a win and a 2nd place finish. The Holzman barn has 6 wins in 20 starts over the past 30 days. Was used hard to get the top in last and faded late. Could drop into the pocket behind #3 and roll by down the lane.
