Cal Expo has a 10-race card set to go with the 0.20 Pick 4 starting in Race 7. The sequence has a $30,000 guaranteed pool with a 16% takeout, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 7

2-Native's Best Bet (2-1)-This 8-year-old has raced into better form and has improved at this level in the last 2 starts. Gets some needed post relief and Kennedy should have in play from early on. Could seal the deal for an overdue win.
7-Haulin' Oats (9/2)-Started the meet in dull form and has been better since requalifying on 1-9. Last time, raced wide coming home and still rolled the back half in 57.1 Should offer a solid price and could be sitting on a big try.

Race 8

1-Nightgirl (9/2)-This is Plano's choice over #3 and drops to the level of the last win on 1-14. Should be on the lead or close to it the entire mile.
2-Ivy B Poison (5/2)-Makes the 2nd start for the Castillo barn and this is the 2nd time in the bike for Roland. Was blocked going down the lane and didn't have an out. Should be bet down because of the bad trip, not loving the short price but tough to leave off the ticket.
5-Shes A Showstopper (2-1)-Was on the engine on Sunday night and the 56.2 opening half was cause to fade down the lane. Should be in the mix again and could get the top with more gas left in the tank.

Race 9

5-Summer Fantasy (3-1)-Roland steers his own, #1 and Kennedy takes the lines. Gets some needed post relief and likes to get on the engine. The race could set-up nicely for this mare, shouldn't have much trouble landing on the point.
6-Casa Miasa (6-1)-Was caught at the back of the pack into a 59.2 opening half. Tonight, Campbell should be able to find some live cover and the fractions could be honest. Will need best at this level but is worth a swing at the morning line price.

Race 10

1-Paddy Murphy (5-1)-Came a close 2nd at 16-1 at this level after being scratched sick. Was parked in last and if Pacheco can provide a smooth steer, it could finally be the night for a picture.
2-Western Devil (5/2)-Picked up a win 2 back and has raced well in the last 3 starts all at this level. Should be a short price but deserves respect versus this crew.
4-Fox Valley Triton (5-1)-Has been stuck outside in the last 3 tries but now drops in for only $5k and this post draw could make a difference. Needs an efficient trip to cash the top check and Kennedy will be trying to make that happen at a solid mutuel.
