Yonkers Raceway has a big 13-race program set for this evening. The feature rolls in Race 10, an Open Handicap Pace with a $39,000 purse. The $1.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 7, and the sequence will be my focus.
Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
Race 7
2-Investment Bluechip (5-1)-Gets a new set of hands in Dunn after pacing a .56 back-half to fall short by a nose. Looking for an aggressive steer and some lively fractions. Both could help and should be a fair price.
4-Moneyman Hill (2-1)-Left from post 7 in the slop and had a strong effort to finish a close 2nd. Looking for a similar plan and the move inside could be enough to secure a picture.
Race 8
2-Regal Son (5-1)-This veteran could offer some value and will toss the last race from the 8-hole. Makes the 3rd start for the new barn and should race near the top of the stack and be in the hunt at the wire.
3-Robbie Burns N (7/2)-Here is another 11-year-old that makes its 3rd start for a new barn. In-an-out sort that should be able to get a close-up seat and then take a big swing down the lane.
5-Dark Energy N (5-1)-This feels like a spot where Dube leaves and doesn't look back. Willing to take a swing in an open affair and could be over looked at the windows.
Race 9
2-Velocity Komodo (3-1)-Has raced well in both starts for Burke-Brennan. Should get away either on the point or in the pocket and both could work for consecutive trips to the winner's circle.
4-Glengarry Knight N (4-1)-This is another who has been in sharp form and should be a player once again. Siegelman is in a spot to drop in behind #2 and look for a trip-out win.
Race 10
5-Tattoo Artist (9/5)-Hasn't raced since 12-6 but qualified on 2-26 with Dunn between the pipes in a snappy 150.2 at M1. This looks like a very good spot to return to action. Should make the most of the short field and if fires a decent try off the bench it should be enough.
