Yonkers Raceway has a solid 11-race card ready to roll this evening. The $1.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 7, and it will be my focus.
Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
Race 7
1-Heisman Player (3-1)-The one below was not going to be caught last week. Kakaley should be more aggressive here, comes back in sequence rather than in 2 weeks. Will look for an alert start and to race close to the lead throughout.
3-Keystone Phoenix (5/2)-Left from the rail, landed on the point, and got away with a 56.3 opening half. That was all that was needed to draw off for an easy win. Looks like a player again but it won't be as easy.
Race 8
2-Mysweetboymax (2-1)-Max didn't get the best of trips as the even money chalk got the lead from the 8-hole then Dunn walked a softer 2nd quarter and wouldn't be denied. As a result, Bartlett got stuck behind bad cover and did the work on his own gaining ground to the wire. The trip should be much smoother this time.
6-Shadow Cat (8-1)-Faced better in last and almost wired the field from post 7. Zeron takes the lines as Bartlett sticks with #2 but this pilot can be aggressive and it's a soft spot for Cat.
Race 9
1-Bee Two Bee (5/2)-This Burke trainee finds ways to burn money and did last week at 2/1, but this is a spot to make amends. As Gabe Prewett would say, Brennan had the lights on and the siren going. He pulled into a 26.2 opening 1/4 to get the top, then sizzled to the half in 53.3 and collapsed to finish a badly beaten 6th. The trip should be a lot better and so should the result.
Race 10
4-Motive Hanover (7/2)-Last week, Joe B drove this 6-year-old like he was by far the best, but it was not the case as the trip took its toll. This time the journey shouldn't be as taxing, multiple moves with quick fractions. If that's the case things should go much better because there isn't the same kind of gate speed in this field compared to last week.
