Al Cimaglia: Hoosier Park Late Pick 4 Analysis | Friday, July 1, 2022

July 1, 2022

The headliner on the Friday Hoosier Park card rolls in Race 13, the Hoosier Cup for 3-year-old colts and gelding pacers with a $70,000 purse. The 50.0 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 10, and the sequence will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 10

1-Boudoir Hanover (6/5)-Alagna trainee has tangled with tough fillies on either side of the border. Had little chance in the Fan Hanover from the 9-hole. But did sizzle the back-half in 53.1 and can be a main player tonight.
4-Goo Goo Won (9/2)-Davis trainee should be in the hunt at the wire in the 4th start of the year. Could get the pocket behind the chalk.

Race 11

1-Ima Real Ladys Man (7/2)-Not loving the 1-18 this year but Bates can keep this 6-year-old in play. One-move type looks like a player in a tough race to read.
6-Bold And Brassy (6-1)-Has beaten better but recent form has been dull. De Long sticks, the Leonard barn keeps rolling along so is worth a swing at a solid price.
8-Always Rockin (5-1)-Goes from the rail to post 8 and now faces older. Usually not a tempting play but did get on the engine and sprinted home in 149.2 with a 26.4 last quarter on 6-23. The key is the start and has good gate speed so should find a close-up seat.

Race 12

3-This Kit Rocks (5/2)-Competitive 4-year-old can race near the top of the stack or come off cover. Speedy team Putnam entry may have found a beatable field.
5-Truffle Dog (4-1)-Cullipher trainee has raced well in 2 starts at HoP and doesn't have Rockinstorm to deal with tonight. Macomber should be sitting close to the lead throughout and won't need to empty the tank to get there.

Race 13

1-Ponda Warrior (3-1)-Here is the main event and Ponda has been razor sharp in all 4 starts. Looks like the one to beat if the track is dry.
3-Sure Thing Herman (9/2)-Might offer a square price and this Erv Miller trainee shouldn't be taken lightly. Can be right there with a decent steer and will put some value into the exotics.
5-JK Victory (5/2)-Did beat Ponda on 6-10 but that was in the slop. Looks like a serious threat, likes to get on the engine and this Burke pupil can land on the point here.
