Al Cimaglia: Meadowlands Early Pick 4 Analysis | Saturday, July 2, 2022

The Meadowlands has a solid 13-race card scheduled for this evening and it is loaded with competitive stakes competition. The 0.50 Early Pick 4 with a $50,000 guaranteed pool starts in Race 6, and the sequence will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 6

3-Lovedbythemasses (7/2)-Freshened up and this Cullipher trainee looks ready to battle off the 6-25 qualifier. Muscle Mass 6-year-old has won 12 of 29 at M1 and should be in the hunt at the wire.
5-Ecurie D Dk (9/5)-Odds-on winner in the Cutler trotted away from the competition with a 26.4 last quarter to set a new mark of 149.1. Only question mark is the layoff since 5-24, but it's doubtful we have seen the best from this lightly raced 6-year-old.

Race 7

1-Stone Hanover (10-1)-The post draw puts this Pavia trainee in the mix. Zeron could stay patient, get sucked around and use one nice brush to roll by at a price.
2-Jake's Legend N (3-1)-Smoked the 2nd half to finish a close 3rd from post 10, and missed a start. Comes right back, Dunn sticks and the Norman barn is posting 29% winners over the past 30 days. Looks like a player and should be aggressively driven.
3-Shake That House (7/2)-Beat easier in last with a gate to wire score in 148 after rolling a 53.4 opening half. Maybe that win will be a confidence booster and lead to another picture.
4-Backstreet Shadow (6-1)-Has lacked a knockout punch but did show improvement in last. Tetrick sticks and the Burke trainee does good work at M1 (31-6-5-5). The price should be right so best to not overlook.

Race 8

1-Nicholas Beach (7/2)-Looking for much better than the disappointing 9th place finish in the Battle of Lake Erie. Left early and got the pocket ride behind the chalk who stopped like he hit a wall around the 5/8's pole. Should either be on the point or in the pocket here and either could work for a picture.
2-Charlie May (9/5)-Charlie shipped in from Canada qualified and then sizzled a 147.1 mile to cash the top check. That effort came after being off a month and the race should go through this 4-year-old.

Race 9

1-Fire Start Hanover (6-1)-Will take a swing starting from the rail will be beneficial and Dunn can work a winning trip. Norman trainee has hit the board in 9 of 12 at M1 with 5 wins. Using and will play against Test Of Faith from post 10.
6-Racine Bell (5-1)-Thinking this mare may be rounding back into top form and has won 33% of Big M starts (9-3-1-2). Comes off a sharp score from post 7 at YR and Bartlett should have her racing near the top of the stack.
8-Lyons Sentinel (4-1)-Tetrick seemed content to leave the gate slowly and duck in behind Test Of Faith in the Roses Are Red Final. He worked that plan, but it didn't help as this mare seemed to be "off" and never fired down the lane. Looking for a different trip and to be spotted much closer to the lead turning for the wire.
