Yonkers Raceway begins the week with a 9-race card. The feature goes in Race 8, an Open Handicap Pace with a $39,000 purse. The $1.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 6, and the sequence will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 6

2-The Dark Shadow (3-1)-No luck at Pocono in the last few, now get class relief and tries YR. Can leave in a hurry and expect an aggressive drive by Joe B.
5-Fortify (5/2)-Camera shy Takter trainee was in deep water at Mohawk. Should relish the company and has carried big speed on shorter ovals.
6-Pace N Pride N (9-1)-Has hit the board in 6 of 7 at YR and the race could set up nicely for this price shot. Stratton should be rolling down the lane and could catch the chalks at a price.

Race 7

3-Pat Stanley N (6-1)-Team Stratton veteran could land in the pocket behind #5 and trip out for a picture.
5-Bee Two Bee (2-1)-Kakaley takes over for Brennan and the plan should be the same. Looking for the pedal to be down to get on the point with hopes of wiring the field.

Race 8

2-Red Right Hand (9/2)-Takter trainee ships in from Oak Grove and has done well at YR (12-7-2-1). Zeron should be blasting out and could gain control. Looks like a player at a square price.
4-Funatthebeach N (4-1)-Trip dependent 8-year-old could benefit from a lively pace. Should race closer to the top and chances for a picture go up if #2 is challenged for the lead.
5-Priceless Beach (7/1)-Has been trying hard and gets needed post relief. Gets a nice post draw and can be in the hunt at a solid price with a good steer.

Race 9

4-Heisman Player (2-1)-Has been consistent at this level and there is no reason to ignore with this post draw. The Alexander barn is batting 34% winners over the last 30 days and the beaten 4/5 chalk could make amends tonight.
8-Keystone Phoenix (5/2)-This 7-year-old left and wired the field from post 7 on 7-4. My guess is the same plan will be in play here and is a major threat if clears easily.
