Al Cimaglia: Yonkers Raceway Late Pick 4 Analysis | Monday, July 25, 2022

Yonkers Raceway kicks-off the week with an 11-race card. The feature rolls in Race 9, an Open Pace with a $39,000 purse. The $1.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 7, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 7

1-Smokin By N (4-1)-Beat the $40k claimers by >7 lengths on the engine and now takes a big jump up but draws the rail. Went the 2nd half in 54.1 all on his own and with a similar effort should be battling #5 to the wire.
5-Rolling With Sam (2/1)-Comes off the 1st win for Alexander since the claim on 6-6 and comes right back at the same level. Sam can stay good for a while, and he might be just starting to get into his groove.

Race 8

1-Mankat (9/2)-Drops and draws well for a winning effort. Kakaley should put in play as soon as the wings close and could offer a square price.
5-Mullinax (5/2)-Not crazy about the short price but will include in a race without a standout. Program chalk #4 comes off a sick scratch and is idle since 6-27. Using and hoping Zeron provides a sharp steer.
7-Carlisimo (8-1)-Only 1-9 in 2022 but this is a beatable field and could benefit from some hot fractions. Price shot can win coming off cover and Buter will need to put in play.

Race 9

3-American Courage (5/2)-Comes back in sequence after a brutal trip in the Haughton at M1. Winner in 8 of 10 at YR seems to have landed in a good spot to post his 3rd win in 5 starts for the Alexander barn. Kakaley could work a similar winning trip as in the 6-13 race on this oval.

Race 10

1-I'll Drink To That (2-1)-Won going gate to wire from the rail last week versus easier. The 3 should be leaving and could get the top early on. But Bartlett knows this 4-year-old well and can have in striking range at the top of the lane.
3-Chase H Hanover (5/2)-Had no chance versus this kind from the 7-hole in last. Kakaley gets the assignment this time and it should be pedal down and catch me if you can.
4-Pyro (9/2)-Usually a threat at this level and Dube could work a nice stalking trip. If the top 2 battle early this 6-year-old could be rolling fastest of all late in the mile.

$1.00 Late Pick 4
