Al Cimaglia: Woodbine Mohawk $53K Carryover Pick 5 Analysis | Monday, August 1, 2022

August 1, 2022

The 11-race card at Woodbine Mohawk Park starts off with a bang as the 0.20 Early Pick 5 has $53,067.10 carry over. This pool is usually guaranteed at $100,000 and tonight it will far surpass that total. The sequence starts in Race 1, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 1

9-Fireinsidemyveins (8-1)-The last race here versus similar was on 5-23 and started from post 8. Raced well, was used to get the top and faded in the last 1/16th but had missed a start. Henry could leave and drop in the pocket behind the one below and surprise at a price.
10-Lucas NL (4-1)-New Zealand invader has been great in each of 2 starts at GeoD. Filion picks #5 and McNair will steer tonight. If the 4-year-old gets the top without using much gas it may not matter who is driving, this will be the 3rd different pilot in 3 starts.

Race 2

3-White Tiger (5-1)-This will be the 3rd start off the bench after being put away in early March. Drops and fits well with this crew and AMac should have the 6-year-old in striking range at the top of the lane.
4-Muscle Fashion (5/2)-Auciello trainee makes the 3rd start since having about 6 weeks off. Dropped to soft spot and rolled home is a snappy 153.3 which was just shy of its 153 lifetime mark. Could be ready to stay good so best to respect here.

Race 3

3-Raptors Won (7/2)-McNair gets the nod as JMac is out with an injury. Was far back early on in last and sizzled the back half in .54. Looking for an alert start this time and to race near the top of the stack.
6-Quebecoise (3-1)-Didn't rally off a 1st over trip in last after winning the race before. Still looks like a player, Young could work a smoother trip and come off cover.
7-Addictivebehaviour (5/2)-Has hit the board in 13 of 19 at Wbsb with 4 wins. Roy can look to blast out, has the gate speed to do so and there aren't many others who leave. Should be put in play early and can be in the mix if this filly minds her manners.

Race 4

4-Ridin On Sunshine (6-1)-Willing to take a swing with this well-bred 6-year-old who was purchased for $185,000 and has earned only $16,059 in 27 starts. There are no standouts in this bunch, and this is the 1st time in for a $15,000 tag.
6-Big Ace (3-1)-Comes off a win versus this kind at GeoD and took the long way around. This will be the 3rd start for the Cullen barn and has shown improvement but has had trouble staying flat at Wbsb.
8-Aladdin Du Lac (8-1)-This 3-year-old was doing his work at the Hippodrome and is owned by driver Louis Roy. Doesn't appear out of place and is another price shot worth using in a difficult race to read.

Race 5

2-HP Mama B (4-1)-Tossing last versus a tough winner off a bad trip. Now tries Lasix for the 1st time and was Filion's choice over the 8/10. Has won 9 of 22 starts here and should be forwardly placed once the wings fold.
4-Patriarch Hanover (7/2)-Doesn't bump heads with Fashion Frenzie tonight. Now gets reunited with McNair, and they have posed together in the past. Should be racing with leaders at the top of the lane and the Moreau barn is posting 28% winners over the past 30 days.
