Hall of Fame driver David Miller set a Breeders Crown record with five winners in 2015. He could outdo himself when 12 championships -- totaling $6 million in purses -- are contested this weekend at Hoosier Park in Indiana.
Miller drove six elimination winners last weekend -- Rainbow Room (2yo filly pace), Karpathian Kid (2yo colt pace), Mach It So (open pace), Dealt A Winner (open pace), What The Hill (3yo colt trot) and Crystal Fashion (2yo colt trot) -- putting himself in a prime spot heading into the 2-year-old finals Friday and six more finals Saturday. All 2-year-old finals will carry a $600,000 purse.
Yannick Gingras will have plenty of horsepower in his hands as he guides probable favorites Youaremycandygirl (2yo filly pace), Manchego (2yo filly trot) and champion mare Hannelore Hanover, who will take on the boys in the $526,250 open trot.
Others elimination winners to watch include: International Moni (Scott Zeron), a $62,500 supplemental entrant into the 3yo colt trot; and Ella Christina (Tim Tetrick), who rallied from far back to spring a 36-1 upset in the 3yo filly pace.
Hoosier Park, a 7/8-mile track, is the 31st venue to host the Breeders Crown and the first Midwest track to host the crown in three decades.
Post time is 6 p.m. [EDT] Friday and Saturday. Hoosier Park will offer a $25,000 guaranteed Pick 4 pool on races 5-8 both nights and a guaranteed $40,000 Pick 4 on races 9-12.
Xpressbet customers will receive 10X Points for their Breeders Crown wagers.
