Al Cimaglia: Yonkers Raceway Late Pick 4 Analysis | Monday, August 8, 2022

Yonkers Raceway begins the week with an 11-race card. The feature goes in Race 9, an Open Handicap Pace with a $39,000 purse. The $1.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 7, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 7

2-Exploit (2-1)-Raced evenly in the 1st start off the Dowse claim but went the 2nd half in a snappy 54.1. Should be a short price but usually comes to play versus this kind.
4-Ozone Blue Chip (5/2)-Steps-up off a sharp score on the engine and turned on the motor in the 2nd half. Should be in the hunt with this post draw and might be tough to catch if gets on the lead without using much gas.

Race 8

2-Perfectly Close (10-1)-Has been bouncing back and forth between here and Philly. This barn has been ice cold but is worth a swing at this price. Holland can work a trip from this spot and should relish the company.
6-Velocity Komodo (5/2)-Took the long way around in last and that plan failed. Usually doesn't leave but the pedal could be down early and there isn't much gate speed in this field. Looking for a big effort from team Stratton.
7-Im A Gigolo N (20-1)-Dube sticks on this beaten chalk and is somewhat like the one above but offers more value. Can threaten if raced near the top of the stack. Has a pilot that can be aggressive and should have enough gate speed to get a decent seat.

Race 9

4-American Dealer N (7/2)-Come off a win, steps-up but knows how to get it done at this class. My take is Joe B blasts out and plays catch me if you can.
6-Funatthebeach N (6-1)-Willing to use the 2 inside of the Artist and leave the chalk off the ticket. This veteran should be able to secure an up-close seat. The fractions should be lively, and that was an issue last week, expecting better this time at a fair price.
7-American Courage (6-1)-Beat straight Open company with a sharp, efficient effort. Using and hoping the connections will be looking to make it 2 straight and is driven that way by Sears. This 4-year-old is too good at YR to leave off the ticket winning 9 of 11 here.

Race 10

3-Priceless Beach (3-1)-Needs to race close to the top of the stack to take a picture. Has a much better chance of doing so with this post draw versus this kind than the previous 2 starts. Comes back in sequence, should be a player and hopefully won't be over bet.
4-Buddy Hill (5-1)-Came off the bench to face some tough customers and last time the trainer steered. Tonight, Sears gets the call and Buddy usually is in the hunt at YR. May have met a beatable field and the Alexander barn is still rolling along.
