The headliner on the Hoosier Park 14-race card comes in Race 11 when 3-year-old colts and geldings battle in Indiana Sires Stakes action. The 0.50 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 11, and the sequence will be my focus.
Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
Race 11
3-Sure Thing Herman (6-1)-Herman isn't a sure thing but has won 3 of the last 5 and had excuses in the other 2 starts. Looks like a player and Tetrick should work a smooth journey.
4-The Longest Yard (8-1)-Comes back to home base from PcD and should fits nicely with this crew. Looks like an upset possibility if in striking range turning for the wire. Has hit the board in 13 of 18 at HoP with 5 pictures.
5-JK Victory (8/5)-Another who returns from Pocono and Hoosier has been good to this Burke trainee too. Has hit the board in 7 of 9 with 4 wins and has finished 2nd in the other 3 races. Has battled tough customers and is the one to beat.
Race 12
2-Seeing Eye Single (9/2)-Comes off a flat effort after getting a 2-hole trip. Back in at the same class but now gets De Long between the pipes. Should offer a solid price and was locked on the left line on turns last week. Hoping Mr. Burke has that issue solved and the new pilot makes a difference.
6-Mayhem Hanover (7/2)-Was a beaten odds-on chalk in its HoP debut and now steps-up. Looking for better in the 2nd try here and has the speed to score versus this group.
Race 13
3-VH Levi (5-1)-Has been trying hard versus solid competition and may have met a beatable field. Tetrick takes the lines and hopefully won't be over bet.
5-Bold And Brassy (4-1)-Similar to the one above, may have found a spot to shine in a tough race to read. Should be a threat if avoids a tardy start.
6-Odds On Pick Six (3-1)-This 4-year-old makes the 3rd start off the bench for team Wrenn. Has raced from the back in the last 2 tries and thinking tonight is the time for an aggressive drive.
Race 14
2-Rockin Rebellion (5/2)-This Rockin Image gelding has won 5 of 15 at HoP and De Long gets the assignment. The Stohler pupil finds a good spot to get back on the winning side of the ledger.
4-Dalby Hanover (3-1)-His sophomore campaign hasn't been as fruitful as last year but this is a good time to rebound. Tetrick didn't steer in last but returns here in the 3rd start for the George barn. Should be a main player if races back to the previous Hoosier race on 7-22.
