Hawthorne Racecourse has an 11-race card to close-out the weekend. The 0.50 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 8. The sequence has a $15,000 guaranteed pool, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 8

4-Red Hot Remi (12-1)-Was used from the 10-hole to get the top and that trip didn't work out. Looking for a pocket ride behind #2 and then a nice move down the lane to sweep by at a price.
5-Goosebumpsthefrog (7/2)-Was competitive at the Fairs and showed some speed at HoP but needs to mind manners to win on the big track. Comes back into the Agosti barn and will respect chances for improvement.
6-Controll Your Roll (2-1)-Tried to wire the field last week from post 9 and faded late. Usually tries hard but has burned money as the chalk in the last 3 starts. This looks like an opportunity to make amends.

Race 9

1-Incredible Loraen (7-1)-Thinking Leonard will have this freshman forwardly placed for a change. There is no telling how this 2-year-old race will unfold. Chances go up if this filly is sitting on the lead or close to it at the top of the lane.
3-Holymotherofmoses (3/2)-This looks like the fastest 2-year-old in the field but is only 1-7 with her her picture coming at Haw. Will respect chances but is still learning how to win and at 3/2 in the morning line will look to others with some value.
10-Vintage Memories (3-1)-Shows a quick qualifier in Springfield and has hit the board in 2 of 3 starts but they were on smaller ovals. Has some speed, should be a fair price and will hope Husted provides a smooth trip.

Race 10

8-Tiamogonedancen (5-1)-Taking a swing with the droppers in a tough race to read. Husted gets the call and that could help. Likes to come off cover and the fractions should be honest for a successful stretch drive.
10-Marys Pretty Girl (12-1)-Raced versus Open company, got a bumpy trip and should fit better here. Bates needs to provide a sharp steer, but this 6-year-old mare likes Stickney (29-8-5-2). Price shot may have found a beatable field.

Race 11

1-Yeahboyyeah (5-1)-Needs to prove itself at this level but the same can be said for others. This veteran is only 1-15 at Haw but Bates can keep in play and has the speed to beat this crew.
6-I'vegotagirlcrush (5-1)-Trip dependent team Leonard entry starts in a good spot and could get a close-up seat early on. Can roll late and should be closer to the lead turning for the line this time.
9-Warrawee Veloce (4-1)-Still looking for its 1st Haw win. Has raced evenly versus Open company and can be in the hunt here. The post helps the price and may follow #1 off the gate and get away in decent position.
