Yonkers Raceway has a 10-race card set to begin the week with the feature coming in Race 9, an Open Handicap Pace with a $39,000 purse. The $1.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 7, and the sequence will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 7

4-Smokin By N (5/2)-Makes the 3rd start for the Alexander barn after being claimed for $75k. Gets needed post relief and drops, looks like it should be "go" time.
5-Gumption (7/2)-Returns from Philly and has been in good form. Will need to come up with a top try to win at this level but this isn't a scary bunch and Bartlett sticks.

Race 8

2-Undrthsouthrnsun N (3-1)-Has been battling some tough customers and ships back to a spot to shine. May take the point and not look back.
4-Semi Tough (5/2)-This Burke trainee has been facing Open company and should relish this group. Has won 10 of 39 here and Brennan could work an effective stalking trip.

Race 9

2-Funatthebeach N (5/2)-Hasn't been very sharp for over a month and has been off since 8-26. Key here is drawing inside of the main foes. Can leave fast enough to get a good seat and the couple below could be leaving. Might benefit from a speed duel and rally late.
4-Jack's Legend N (7/2)-Comes back from Pocono and lands in the same class as its last win on 8-1 and it was from this post. Should be forwardly placed and looks like a player.
5-American Dealer N (3-1)-Has been facing some tough foes, now returns to Yonkers and should be ready to compete for top honors. Joe B can fire out and if he gets to the top and steals a quarter it could be picture time.

Race 10

3-Fortify (3-1)-Comes out of an odd race and the 2 that finished ahead aren't in this field. Tried to get the top but the 8/5 chalk said no from the rail. Then the fractions were soft, tried to pull to pass and couldn't outduel the chalk again but both were overtaken on the inside by the winner. Looking for a better set-up and a sharp steer by Brennan.
4-Rock The Devil (9/2)-Finished 2nd in a nice effort from post 7. Moves up in class and Bartlett sticks over the one below. Has been trying hard and should fit well with this crew.
6-None Bettor A (5-1)-This veteran has captured 11 of 43 at YR and won at this class 2 back. Raced okay last time from post 8 to finish 3rd. Gets a new set of hands in Kakaley and he could provide an aggressive steer.
