Breeders Crown weekend at Hoosier Park ends tonight with a 14-race card. The Championships will be held in races 7-12 once again and they are handicapped below. The stars of the finale will be two and three-year old colts and geldings, plus top flight Open trotters and pacers.
As reported on the U.S. Trotting Association website, the total handle on Friday night was $1,773,829, with a $1,028,238 wagered on six Breeders Crown races. If the track stays dry the handle should increase tonight, which would be great news to those who worked very hard to bring Breeders Crown racing to Indiana.
Unfortunately, the rains came down most of the day in Anderson, and the track was rated sloppy. So, there's not an accurate accounting for last night. My top selections in races 8, 10 and 11 did win but were odds on favorites. Hopefully the weather cooperates, and the track is rated as fast for this evening.
Xpressbet customers will receive 10X Points on all wagers made at Hoosier Park on Saturday!
Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
Race 7-Breeders Crown-Open Trot-Purse $526,250
5-Marion Marauder-My choice to upset the queen, #4. Racing well and only 9 races in 2017.
4-Hannelore Hanover-No doubt the one to beat and she could very well top the boys.
2-Crazy Wow-Winner of 2 straight and tough as nails. Dave Miller will keep him in the hunt.
Race 8-Breeders Crown-2-year-old colts and geldings Trot-Purse $600,000
5-Met's Hall-In fine form and didn't break a sweat in elims. Could be sitting on a big try at a square price.
4-Fourth Dimension-ML chalk looks the part and is Sears' choice, best to respect.
1-Crystal Fashion-Could have easily picked higher. Major player and should challenge top two selections.
Race 9-Breeders Crown-2-year-old colts and geldings Pace-Purse $600,000
4-Closing Statement-Big try from 7 hole in last and Sears can pick his route with this post at 6-1 in ML.
1-Karpathian Kid-Nipped #4 off a pocket trip, but connections are tough and will be in the hunt again.
5-Stay Hungry-Another who made the most of a great trip but winner of 5 of 7 is the real deal.
Race 10-Breeders Crown-3-year-old colts and geldings Trot-Purse $527,500
4-International Moni-Not much difference in top 2 choices, but this colt rates a slim edge.
3-What The Hill- This son of Muscle Hill has had a great year and could be posing again tonight.
5-Lindy The Great-Looks to be in the best form of the year and should offer a strong challenge.
Race 11-Breeders Crown-3-year-old colts and geldings Pace-Purse $527,500
4-Downbytheseaside-Impressive win from 8 hole and rolled in 1.51.1, will string along.
1-Rock N Tony-Hometown talent is dialed in, has won 2 straight and will use at 5-1 in the ML.
5-Beckhams Z Tam-Another local entry, tries hard and has been sharp. Can add some pop to the ticket.
Race 12-Breeders Crown-Open Pace-Purse $421,000
5-Mach It So-Dave Miller's choice over #3 the ML chalk. I'm thinking he chose correctly.
6-Keystone Velocity-Versatile 9-year-old is sharp and will use up and down in gimmicks at 8-1 in the ML.
2-McWicked-Racing well, and 3rd starts with Sears. Similar use as #6, is a player at a square price.
