The feature on the Monday night card at Yonkers Raceway rolls in Race 8, an Open Pace with a $39,000 purse. The $1.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 7, and the sequence will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 7

2-Muscle Jack (9/5)-This 4-year-old races about every 3 weeks and is looking for his 6th straight picture. Won 2 in a row versus $75k claimers and then dropped and beat the $50k claimers in 3 consecutive races. This colt was good enough to defeat this kind handily and if in the same race shape will likely win again at a tiny price. Could be left in this class for a few reasons but will string along until form changes.
5-Steuben Hanover (6-1)-Has been cashing checks consistently at this level but not winning. If the chalk is off his game this seems the most likely winner despite the 1-17 record at Yonkers.

Race 8

1-None Bettor A (5/2)-Claimed by Alexander, rewarded the new connections with a sharp win and now steps-up to face Open company. Has the gate speed to be forwardly placed and has landed in a spot to win right back.
3-American Dealer N (3-1)-This Toscano entry has won 4 of 13 at YR. Tried to wire the field on 9-12 at the Open Handicap classification and fell short by a neck. Should be a threat if gets a good start and trip, has gate speed but so do some others in this field.
4-Leonidas A (3-1)-Has been idle since 7-23 and comes off a nice qualifier on 9-16. If 100% ready to battle this 7-year-old should be a major player. It's risky to disregard due to coming off a layoff as this group doesn't have any standouts.

Race 9

3-Always And Again (2-1)-Has not taken a picture since 7-5 but has cashed checks versus better here. Willing to push all the chips in. Bartlett takes the lines, and he was also between the pipes for the last win. Won't offer much of a price but should beat this crew with a dry track and a fair trip. Bartlett could blast out and look to land on the point, either way should be driven aggressively versus this kind.

Race 10

2-Gemologist (6-1)-Was claimed for $50k by the DeVita barn, then dropped in at the same price and was the race time chalk. But made a rare break at the start and lost all hope. Looks worthy of a swing at the morning line price and has a chance for redemption versus this bunch.
6-Cocktails N Dreams (6-1)-Will fade the program chalk (#1) off the last race and the switch to Marohn. This could be another price shot worth using. Cashed a 4th place check in last stepping up to this class. Gets some post relief and Bartlett sticks. Looking for an alert start and to be in striking range turning for the wire.
7-For A Dreamer (9/2)-Brennan appeared to have some steering problems last week. Was claimed by Burke for $50k on 8-22 and was buried in 2 starts with outside posts versus $75k claimers. Did pass 3 foes when straightened out down the lane in last which was at this level. Looking for an alert start and for the Burke barn to have the steering issues under control.
