Yonkers Raceway has a compact 9-race card scheduled to start at 6:55 EST. The feature rolls in Race 8, an Open Pace with a $39,000 purse. The $1.00 Late Pick 4 begins in Race 6, and the sequence will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 6

1-Venier Hanover (7/5)-Winner of 5 straight since being claimed by Dowse. That string started with NW5000L5 to downing the $75K claimers. Beat this kind last week, and if takes them to the half in .57 again the same thing could happen.
3-Smokin By N (7/2)-Steps-up after coming off 2 efficient wins and has won at this class on 7-25. Could be in line for a pocket trip and best to not overlook.
6-Ozone Blue Chip (9-1)-This veteran started from the 8-hole, broke 8th and finished that way last week. The start was versus $75k claimers and had been off 3-weeks. Looking for better tonight, could surprise and put some juice into the Pick 4 payout.

Race 7

4-Escapetothebeach (2-1)-Has been on the bench since 8-30 and tuned up at Phl by winning a qualifier with David Miller between the pipes. Rolled the back-half in 56.2 and is a threat to win at first asking. Has hit the board in 25 of 51 at YR with 12 wins.
5-Velocity Komodo (7/2)-Came out of the clouds to win a photo for 2nd place and now drops. Stratton could be more aggressive versus this kind and be closer to the lead turning for the wire.

Race 8

1-Leonidas A (5/2)-Beaten chalk came off the bench after 2 months off and missed by a half-length. Should be tighter and could get some revenge on #2 with a gate to wire win.

Race 9

1-Beltane A (5-1)-Was bet in last and caught a nice trip but couldn't close down the lane. Didn't race poorly, was in a blanket finish for 2nd place and no one was beating the winner. Might be better versus this field and should be okay off the gate. Can compete at this class and could benefit from a sweet trip.
5-Runrunjimmydunn N (6/5)-Has made 6 starts for the Dowse barn since being claimed and has taken 4 pictures. Three of the wins have come at this class. Should be forwardly placed off the gate and has a good shot of winning for the 3rd straight time.
