Yonkers Raceway has a 10-race card set to go with a 6:55 EST first post. The $1.00 Late Pick 4 begins in Race 7, and the sequence will be my focus.
Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
Race 7
2-Ashton Hill Dave (5-1)-Dave makes his 5th start after dropping to face $40k claimers and for the most part has had excuses. Willing to spread out and leave #1, the 2-1 morning line chalk off the ticket. This 8-year-old could out duel the program chalk, get on the engine, and not look back.
4-American Boy N (5-1)-This 11-year-old doesn't usually bring big gate speed. But from this post could hang around and make one nice brush to roll by down the lane.
5-Mach Doro A (9/2)-Drops after facing $50k claimers and this feels like a spot for Dube to have the pedal down to land on the point. Has beaten better with that strategy and best to respect versus this crew.
7-Benji's Best (4-1)-Broke poorly and couldn't hit the board despite pacing the back-half in .56. The twice beaten chalk has burned money since dropping down to face the $40k claimers. Needs a trip, will rely on Kakaley doing his job and the price will be much better.
Race 8
2-Nandolo N (9/5)-Had no luck in the Aria Invitational and now lands at a comfortable level. Has beaten the NW30kL5 on 9-26 and is a major threat to do so again at a small price.
Race 9
3-Smokin By N (2-1)-Comes off an even effort on 10-24 and appears to have a big chance of cashing the top check. The last effort came after missing a start and it was on an off-track where the 8-year-old is 0-6. Looking for Kakaley to blast out, land on the point and try to make every call a winning one.
5-Barbados (5/2)-Has missed 7-weeks but did put up a nice qualifier on 10-21. Was racing well versus $100k claimers when put away and it didn't look like time for a rest so something must have happened. Did win at a higher level back in August. Might need a start but if dialed on high it could be the night for the 10th picture this year. (26-9-5-3)
Race 10
2-Purple Poet (3-1)-Bartlett lands on this Pocono shipper that has the speed to race near the top of the stack. This group isn't very deep, so should fit if the turns aren't an issue.
5-Alotbetter N (5/2)-Came away 3rd behind the 2 chalks last week after leaving from the rail. Pulled uncovered, grinded it out 1st over and gutted it out down the lane. Another win could be a smooth trip away and has the gate speed to be forwardly placed.
