Al Cimaglia: Yonkers Raceway Late Pick 4 Analysis | Monday, November 7, 2022

Yonkers Raceway kicks-off the week with a 9-race card. The feature rolls in Race 8, an Open Handicap Pace with a $33,000 Purse. The Late Pick 4 starts in Race 6 and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 6

1-Hickfromfrenchlick (5/2)-This 6-year-old doesn't race often but this looks like a spot to be dialed on high. Willing to toss the last start from post 7 and now comes back in sequence. Does good work at YR winning 5 of 15 starts. Draws the rail and should be in play from the word "go".
3-Rock Candy (2-1)-Comes off an even effort in a needed race. This will be the 2nd start since 8-13, Bartlett sticks and should enjoy the company.
5-Uncle Jord A (8-1)-Looking for a price and this Erv Miller trainee was cashing checks versus better. The last 2 starts were at this level but there were excuses, post 7 and an off-track. Did pace the back-half in 55.2 last week, should be closer to the lead here and the pace could be lively.

Race 7

2-Barbados (7/2)-Returned to action after a little over 7 weeks off and couldn't gain ground. The pace was dull and did come the 2nd half in 55.2. The beaten favorite could make amends tonight.
3-Don Domingo N (3-1)-Returns to the DeVito barn after a claim on 10-31. Siegelman is between the pipes, and he won with the veteran versus this kind on 10-19. Best to respect, could reward new connections immediately.

Race 8

5-None Better A (8/5)-Has been no worse than 2nd in 4 starts for the Alexander barn and the only blemish was in the slop. Won the Aria Invitational on 10-15 and should be tough to beat.
6-Covered Bridge (5-1)-Worked to get the lead and raced gamely to just get nipped at the wire on an off track. That was a big effort and won't be 9/5 this time. Has been razor sharp and if #5 doesn't have his fastball this guy knows how to win (22-8-5-0).

Race 9

2-Ginger Tree Pete (9/2)-Seems to do better work when starting from the inside and the 6-year-old has won versus this kind. Likes to race near the top of the stack. Should be forwardly placed throughout and can make the most of this post draw.
5-Change Stride N (5/2)-This 11-year-old has finished 2nd in 3 straight since being dropped to this class. Makes the 1st start for the Jen B barn and has the gate speed to get a good early seat. Buter takes the lines, that's a positive driver's change, and he should have the pedal down as the wings fold.
