The Meadowlands has a 14-race card scheduled with the Early Pick 4 starting in Race 6. The sequence has a $50,000 guaranteed pool with a 15% take out, and it will be my focus.
Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
Race 6
1-Stonebridge Reef (6-1)-Comes off a big try from post 9 in the slop to finish 2nd and that was the first race on an off-track for the 4-year-old. Dunn's choice over #7, who won last week.
6-The Claw (4-1)-This 3-year-old is in sharp form and has won 8 of 20 this year. Should like the company and T Mac's choice over #3.
8-Duke Of Cornwall N (9/5)-Has been on the bench since 9-30, qualified here on 12-3 in the slop in a sizzling 151.4 with a 25.4 last panel. Not loving the short price in its US debut and has raced only 13 times. Using but will hope for the 2 above.
Race 7
5-Adam Crocker A (3-1)-Here's the only dropper in a field without a true standout. Has raced 3 times at M1 and shows a win in its 1st start versus similar. Should be in the mix but wary of 1st time Lasix and breaking stride in the last start.
6-Revolver N (6-1)-Two of the last 3 starts were on a sloppy track where the 8-year-old is winless in 8 tries. Beat cheaper in between those 2 races and could offer some value at the program odds.
8-Baileys Rock N (7/2)-Should fit with this crew after Gingras rolled the back half in 54.4 to pop at long odds. Came off cover in last and has the gate speed to get a close-up seat. Has been racing well and could take another photo tonight.
Race 8
3-Speedy Dominic A (7/2)-Dom was driven like a winner in last and went off as the chalk. But was 0-4 on an off track before that effort and is now 0-5. Drops and can reward backers this time.
8-Toronto (9/2)-Was put away on 12-12-21 and returned to action on 11-5 so there have been issues. This will be the 4th start back, was scratched sick once but has big speed when right. Was hung out to a fast half last time and will take a swing all systems are go now. Using and hoping the price won't be lower than the morning line.
Race 9
1-Texas Terror N (7/2)-This veteran was T Mac's pick over #8, some barn loyalty may have come into play. But the 14-year-old hit the board in 5 of 7 at M1 with 2 pictures. Has enough gate speed to race near the top of the stack and could be a trip out candidate.
9-A Better Beach (3-1)-Rolled by on a sloppy track to win from the 8-hole in last. That was the 1st local start after shipping in from PcD. Does like the wet going (11-3-4-1) and has been in the hunt in almost every race since August. Will respect chances for another trip to the winner's circle and has won 3 of 14 at the Big M.
