Yonkers Raceway has 10 races ready to go this evening with the first post coming at 6:55 EST. The co-features roll in Race 7 and Race 8, an Open Handicap Trot and Pace with $33,000 purses. The $1.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 7, and the sequence will be my focus.
Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
Race 7
7-Refined (3-1)-Handicapped with post 7 for the 3rd straight and has 1 win in the past 2 starts. Raced big in the slop last week to lose by a neck to #6. The post helps the price and could get revenge without getting the on the point from the start.
Race 8
2-Chase Lounge (4-1)-Speedy Burke trainee can dial it up on smaller ovals and is a threat versus this kind. Gingras steers so will look for her to be handled aggressively.
5-Delitfulcatherin N (3-1)-Won easily against easier and is no stranger to facing this kind. Knows how to win (10-27) this year and can stay good for another picture.
6-Lit De Rose (9/2)-Has won 4 straight and this time starts at the end of the gate. Has been an odds-on chalk in all 4 wins and the last 2 were at this class. The price will be better with this post, but not sure 9/2 better.
Race 9
8-Lexus Kody (5/2)-Has been off over a month and the qualifier on 12-16 in the slop at Fhld was okay. Should beat this crew if ready for a big try despite the post draw. Gingras steers and he knows how to win with this 4-year-old.
Race 10
3-Laurie Lee (5/2)-On paper the Di Domenico trainee should be tough to beat. Has cashed checks versus $50k claimers but recent form has been dull. This could be a drop and pop situation if there is enough gas in the tank at the end of a long year.
4-Stellenbosch (3-1)-Basically put in a training mile versus $50k claimers on 12-13. Now drops back to the level of consecutive 3rd place finishes. Gets a new set of hands in Bartlett and he may squeeze a little more out of this veteran.
