Northfield Park has a 14-race program with the $1.00 Late Pick 4 starting in Race 11. The sequence has a $10,000 guaranteed pool, and it will be my focus.
**Due to a $12,108 carryover the $1.00 Pick 5 will have a guaranteed pool of $50,000 and starts in Race 6.
Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
Race 11
1-And I Quote (8-1)-Needs a good trip to take top honors and got the opposite in last. Willing to give another chance, should offer a solid price and may have met a beatable field.
5-Seaside Meditation (3-1)-Not loving a short price with a 4-45 record in the past 2 years. Doesn't like to win but does show quick last quarters. Chances for success go up if lands a close-up seat and those inside don't have much gate speed.
8-Raes Lucky Charm (6-1)-Fell off after getting claimed away from Elson Miller back on 7-28 at Scioto. Changes barns here and goes back under the care of Miller. Looking for better and has gate speed to use if dialed on high.
Race 12
4-Alan (4/5)-Winner of 2 straight, the last by a 15-length margin on 12-20 and that was the 1st start for the Rhoades barn. Went off at 2/5 last week and will be a tiny price again. Merriman will look to take charge early on and not look back.
Race 13
3-Billy Lincoln N (9/5)-Merriman worked an efficient trip and dispatched this kind on 12-20 as the odds-on chalk. Won't offer any value but the same result could happen this evening.
5-Lancaster Park (4-1)-This 10-year-old has made it look easy winning the last 2 races in comfortable fashion. Kash has options and it's best to not overlook.
9-Ranger Alert (7/2)-Has gone off as the chalk in the last 3 starts and might be overlooked starting from the 2nd tier. Stahl will need to provide a sharp steer and to have some luck. Could take a picture and add some juice to the Pick 4 payout.
Race 14
5-Scirocco Mistysaid (9/2)-Like most of the field this 6-year-old doesn't win much going 2-28 over the past 2 years but does try. Followed dull cover in last and had to go 3 wide which didn't work well. Using instead of #7 the 9/5 chalk who looked rough on the track. Hoping for a more alert start, then to get sucked around and roll by late.
6-Mach Stockn Barrrel (20-1)-Raced with #1 and #8 last time and was locked in on the rail. Needs a trip but did close better than the others. Taking a swing here and leaving #1 off the ticket who stopped while on the rail.
8-Speaking Out (20-1)-Drops, gets a positive driver change and the post helps the price. Merriman gets the assignment and with this crew it is probably best to not dismiss unless you are all in on the program chalk (7).
