Northfield Park wraps up 2022 with a 14-race card. The feature goes in Race 11, an Open Pace with an $18,000 purse. Race 11 is also the start for the $1.00 Late Pick 4. The sequence has a $10,000 guaranteed pool, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 11

2-Creme Delight (7/2)-Burke 3-year-old comes off an even effort in a needed start. Should be forwardly placed with this post draw and could be sitting on a big try.
3-Rock Me Cristal (7-1)-Meadows shipper stepped-up and beat Open Handicap company for its 3rd straight picture. Caught a nice trip and rolled by after a quick half. Best to not discount the chances of the same thing happening here.
4-Dashintothebeach N (5-1)-Shows 2 recent wins at this class and did both on the engine. Needs an aggressive steer by Grismore but has the gate speed to get on the point.

Race 12

1-High Fashion Mel (9/2)-Veteran mare can do some damage at this level. Beat this kind from the 2nd tier on 12-10. Should get an up-close seat and offer a square price.
4-Don'tmakeafoolofme (7/2)-Put in a flat line and faded to finish a decent 2nd in last. Might take a 2-hole ride this time behind the program chalk #2 who faded down the lane on 12-17.
8-Roar Hanover (5-1)-Can pass foes down the lane and Merriman should have this gal in striking range at the 3/4 pole. The post makes the price, and the Rhoades trainee has been racing well.

Race 13

3-Heerz Hoosierhunny (5/2)-Winner of 3 straight at this level made it look easy on 12-17, got on the point and didn't look back. Merriman is in the bike as he has been for the last 3 starts. It should be picture time again with a clean trip. May not be 1/5 this time but the 5/2 morning line appears wishful.

Race 14

3-Shad (9/2)-Won on 12-11 as the chalk, then jumped up to face tougher and showed little. Back down now to a comfortable spot. Likes to race near the top of the stack and Davis Jr should have no issue working that trip.
9-Sage Ivy (7/2)-Recent form has been dull but was facing better. This looks like a drop and pop situation for the veteran mare who has won 17 of 96 at Nfld. May get a decent seat when the wings fold as #1 with Merriman has some gate speed.
