LRL 6th race (2:56 EST) -- NOMO RON ‘accelerated’ to the lead and stayed there until class-dropping favorite Free Square (21/4-1-5, $144k) caught up in the closing yards. He has shown a passing gear at Laurel Park in the past and that could come in handy from a favorable outside post. BAHAMA CHANNEL, 27/4-3-5 and a $100k earner on a fast main track, returns from a six-month layoff. He dueled throughout when last seen under these conditions, got caught by the trip-sitting winner and was disqualified from second for drifting in the stretch.

LRL 7th race (3:27 EST) -- The fillies and mares entered in this 6F sprint are a combined 7-for-93, so go deep in this leg of the Pick 4. Class-dropping LADRO DI FICHI has the only win at this distance but she gave way chasing a 42-1 upsetter last out. FASHIONATTA ran second in a ‘key’ starter allowance sprint to Betcha Be Golly (33/4-7-6, $176k) but she had poor stretch action in a comeback sprint at Parx. FLAT OUT COOL got the jump on a pair of deep closers and sustained a 3-wide rally to win by 6-3/4 lengths at Tampa Bay. BACKSTREET AFFAIR looms a front-end threat from the rail if she can avoid several slow-starting trouble lines. QUEEN OF CLASS needs all the pace help she can get after rallying into photo-finish view at three sprint distances.

LRL 8th race (3:58 EST) -- It’s anybody’s race in this one-mile allowance for Maryland breds. MIT MAZEL, who led at every call but one in her six victories, is sure to draw deserved attention, but she offers little value to the Pick 4, so punch the ‘ALL’ button in hopes of a better price.

LRL 9th race (4:29 EST) -- DART ‘took over’ with a 3-wide bid at the quarter pole, then dug in when the winner caught him in deep stretch at 1-1/16 miles. He is todays solo play on the cutback to a one-turn mile and the class drop.
