Northfield Park has a 15-race card scheduled with the $1.00 Late Pick 4 beginning in Race 11. The sequence has a $10,000 guaranteed pool with a low 14% takeout, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 11

3-Almanac (5-1)-Lost to a well-meant winner in last and has been a threat at this level. Starts inside of major foes and should land on the point or in the pocket without using up much energy.
5-Saulsbrook Genesis (2-1)-Raced well in the last start which was at this class and was off 3 weeks. Wrenn needs to find a live cover flow to get into striking range. Has hit the board in 6 of 7 here with 3 pictures and looks like a main player.
6-Bernie (4-1)-Cashed a 5th place check at MVR in the $100k Wizard Invite and now returns to home base. Could leave and try to grab the point before #3 or #4. Stahl might take back and look to roll late, can beat this kind either way.

Race 12

5-Lord Anthony (8/5)-Anthony has only made 33 starts the past 2 years and has posted just 4 wins. Comes off some dull efforts against better but Merriman still sticks. Chances for a picture go up considerably with a drop to this level. Not loving the short morning line but it's best to respect chances of an overdue win. Won't be parked the entire mile this week.
7-Power Blu (9/2)-Comes off a no move mile versus better and now the trainer hands the lines to Myers on a good drop in class. Takes on older but there aren't any monsters in this field. Getting the right trip is a concern but Myers could blast out and look to get a close-up seat or land on the point.

Race 13

1-Best Time Hanover (3-1)-Started slowly from post 7 in last and did mount a rally but finished a well beaten 3rd. Merriman doesn't have a lot of gate speed to utilize but should come away in decent position. Could get a winning trip and hopefully won't be bet hard.
2-Rattling Pine (5/2)-Davis Jr can have this veteran on the point or in the 2-hole right after the wings fold. Should be in the mix at the wire. Will be tough to beat if lands on the engine and steals a quarter.
5-Wadadli (6-1)-Steps up, needs his best to win at this class but so does the entire field and should be a nice price. Makes the 3rd start off the bench and was handled cautiously in last but finished off the mile nicely. If Myers can work a smooth trip and be close to the leaders turning for the wire this 5-year-old could close fastest of all.

Race 14

2-Starznheaven (5/2)-Miami Valley shipper is a perfect 3 for 3 at Nfld, won its last start from the 2nd tier and should do well versus this crew. Wrenn has gate speed to burn, should go right to the top and could make every call a winning one.
5-Zanetti (2-1)-Merriman will be in the bike and has won with this Rhoades trainee twice in the month of April at the level right below. May leave and land in the pocket behind the one above. Should be a major player but could be bet down.
