Hoosier Park has a 14-race program scheduled with the 0.50 Late Pick 4 starting in Race 11. The sequence has a $10,000 guaranteed pool, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 11 (9:45 PM EST)

1-Sugar and Spite (3-1)-Drops in for a tag and put in a flat line last week. Should be ready for a big try and appears to have the speed to be a player as long as she stays on stride.
5-Marla's Got Legs (6-1)-Has shown good early speed in the last few starts and drops to a soft spot. Should be in play early on and has a shot versus this suspect bunch.
8-Bettor Lady (6-1)-The 7-time winner in 2022 is 0-12 this year but has shown some life in the last 2 races. Tetrick sticks and might be sitting on a big try in the 3rd race after shipping in from Nfld. Needs a more alert start but will consider from the outside post.

Race 12 (10:06 PM EST)

3-Bettagettajetta (3-1)-Ships in from ScD and makes its 2023 debut at HoP, drops after 2 dull tries versus better. Looking for Bates to be close to the lead at the 3/4 pole and does show 3 wins in 12 starts here.
6-Tell The Dream (5/2)-Dropped to this level in last and has been saddled with post 9 in the last 2 races. Bender should be on top or in the pocket going into the 1st turn. If he gets that position this mare should be in the hunt at the wire.
9-Lily Grace (10-1)-Takes a meaningful drop and has enough gate speed to get a close-up seat off the gate. Will look for an aggressive steer versus this kind and could surprise at a price with a smooth trip.

Race 13 (10:27 PM EST)

1-Sweet Tell (3-1)-Has been a bridesmaid in 3 straight and has only 1 win in 16 starts here. But has hit the board in 7 races at HoP banking over $41,000 and should relish the company.
5-Firstofanera (5/2)-This filly hasn't faced the same level of competition as the one above but needs to be in the conversation for posting a win. Usually is in the hunt and if Bender can find a live cover flow, she may close fastest of all.

Race 14 (10:48 PM EST)

4-Flirtin JK (2-1)-Has had some issues, breaking stride last year, and at times being slow off the gate. That said, has faced some tough customers and did pace the back-half in 53.3 on 5-29. Has not won since trying Lasix 3 back. But it seems to have kicked in despite not taking top honors. Should have his way with this bunch with a decent trip, and if not in another zip code early in the mile.
