1/ST BET, Perry, Nadeau: Gulfstream Mandatory Rainbow 6 Analysis

by 1/ST BET

June 29, 2023

Gulfstream Park closes the fiscal year Friday and that means all carryover pools must be paid out. Horseplayers tackling the Rainbow 6 have a $149,056 carryover that track officials estimate could lure $1 million in the Friday pool. The sequence begins in Race 3 at 1:53 pm ET.

Check out the selections of on-track Gulfstream handicappers for the sequence, as well as the 1/ST BET artificial intelligence win projections. Selections provided by the 1/ST BET app measure each contender against the 10 leading factors for each race. The 1/ST BET app looks at 52 handicapping factors and more than 200,000 past races to determine its AI selections.

You can use the automated handicapping factors, or create your own factor filters to incorporate angles you prefer. Full-card selections can be found in the 1/ST BET app.

Gulfstream | Race 3 | claiming

Samantha Perry: 8-4-5-1
Brian Nadeau: 4-5-3-1
1/ST BET AI: 4 (24%)-6 (24%)-1 (16%)-3 (13%)

Notes: #4 Shall Return (2-1 ML) has 19 straight top-4 finishes dating back more than 2 years. #8 Summer Home (8-1 ML) drops in class and moves synthetic-to-dirt. #6 Sammy’s Town (12-1 ML) projects highly with the algorithm, but the trainer hasn’t won a race this year and the runner is 3-48 lifetime.

Gulfstream | Race 4 | claiming
Samantha Perry: 8-2-3-6
Brian Nadeau: 4-8-10-1
1/ST BET AI: 8 (22%)-2 (21%)-4 (11%)-1 (10%)

Notes: #8 Bullock (7-2 ML) will have to avoid being hung wide like he was here June 2 against tougher competition. Class drop may help. #2 Temerity (6-1 ML) has had 5 tries in this same condition with a pair of runner-ups. #4 Velocissima (6-1 ML) hasn’t had enough late kick in last pair at 5 furlongs, so the extra 110 yards could be a boost.

Gulfstream | Race 5 | allowance optional claiming
Samantha Perry: 2-6-5-3
Brian Nadeau: 6-7-2-1
1/ST BET AI: 2 (24%)-4 (21%)-7 (17%)-5 (12%)

Notes: #2 Smart Striker (8-5 ML) doesn’t have a major speed advantage over some of these, but the runner-up in the Not Surprising Stakes over the Tapeta last time stands out on a class drop. A case could be made that this is the most likely single in the sequence. #6 Uncle Armando (4-1 ML) ran a sneaky-good race last time at 27-1 and was competitive with Smart Striker two starts back.

Gulfstream | Race 6 | maiden optional claiming
Samantha Perry: 4-5-8-2
Brian Nadeau: 5-1-4-2
1/ST BET AI: 2 (32%)-7 (14%)-1 (11%)-3 (11%)

Notes: #2 Peach Nectar (6-1 ML) is a massive standout for Saffie Joseph Jr. on the algorithm, but uncoupled stablemate #5 Right Karma (7-2 ML) drops in class, changes surfaces and has been working very fast in the morning. #4 Danzig Chips (5-1 ML) has knocked on the door against similar, though the additional distance provides a bit of question.

Gulfstream | Race 7 | allowance optional claiming
Samantha Perry: 7-3-4-2
Brian Nadeau: 3-7-4-2
1/ST BET AI: 2 (30%)-8 (19%)-3 (11%)-7 (11%)

Notes: The on-track cappers see this as a clear-cut affair between #3 Big Data (9-2 ML) and #7 Big Daddy Dave (3-1). The algorithm leans very heavily to #2 Stat (7-2 ML). Interestingly, that leaves morning line favorite #4 Slim Slow Slider (5-2 ML) off the ticket. This appears to be a race with some solid options beyond the chalk.

Gulfstream | Race 8 | maiden claiming
Samantha Perry: 5-7-4-3
Brian Nadeau: 7-5-1-3
1/ST BET AI: 5 (29%)-4 (19%)-1(17%)-2(10%)

#5 Emergency Response (2-1 ML) was a solid second in his local unveiling, and the Kentucky export should be a big factor for Jose D’Angelo. #7 Green Millennium (3-1 ML) is a wildcard off 2 starts at Mahoning Valley for Wesley Ward. He shows up for Amador Sanchez now off a March layoff and since being gelded. He gets in very light at 108 pounds under the 10-pound apprentice.
