Tonight, the Meadowlands will feature four elimination races for two and three-year-old pacers and trotters. In Race 7 there will be seven mares competing for a $25,000 purse. Those five races are handicapped below.
There are some who will not bet on elimination races as they can be tricky. Those who stay away believe not every horse is looking to win as some are content to just qualify for the final. That's a logical opinion, and my view is to not jump in with both feet. But there can be some nice prices that either win the race or hit the board. You will see there are horses with longer odds in my top three selections and if some connect it can lead to a nice night.
Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
Race 3-Three Diamonds-Elimination
2-Kissin In The Sand (2-1)-Comes off an impressive Big M win and looks like the one to beat.
1-Mean Leen (8-1)-Most likely will be ignored at the windows and faces tougher, but fresh and I will take a swing.
10-Reign On Me (5-1)-Post is a challenge but Gingras will likely leave and may get a good early seat.
Race 5-Goldsmithmaid-Elimination
8-Basquait (3-1)-Has been consistent this year and rates an edge off recent effort at the Big M.
9-Lily Stride (15-1)-Looking for a price to juice up the ticket. Toss last in slop, Tetrick can get this gal on the board.
7-Seviyorum (7/2)-Always in the hunt and can close strongly, a higher finish would not be a surprise.
Race 7-TVG Mares
1-Bedroomconfessions (5-1)-In fine form, should get a great trip and can closest fastest of all.
2-Nike Franco N (5/2)-Will overlook BC race in slop and respect chances for a return to a top finish for ML chalk.
5-Windsun Glory (8-1)-Tuned up on 11/4 in 1:50.4 at HoP, Burke trainee could add some pop to the gimmicks.
Race 8-Valley Victory-Elimination
9-Fashionwoodchopper (8-1)-Been freshened up and comes off a good Qualifier at 8-1 in the ML offers good value.
1-Fourth Dimension (3-1)-Big fav on BC Day but never fired, this could be the time to get back on the right track.
7-Wolfgang (5-1)-Nice win in Matron and if form holds on big track this colt will be in the hunt.
Race 10-Govenor's Cup-Elimination
7-Grand Teton (8-1)-Beaten favorite in Kindergarten was too far back, moves in 2 spots and should be a nice price.
8-Closing Statement (9/2)-Speedy 2-year-old is in very good form and is a major player.
6-Springsteen (5-1)-Winner of 2 straight has had a fine year, will take over the ML chalk #10 to hit the board.
