The Meadowlands begins the weekend with a 14-race card featuring 2-year-olds competing in Kindergarten Series action. The 0.50 Early Pick 4 starts in Race 6. The sequence has a $50,000 guaranteed pool with a 15% takeout, and it will be my focus.
Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
Race 6 (8:25 PM EST)
2-Fasnacht Hanover (4-1)-Put in a nice tune-up here on 7-22 and might be ready to take top honors in its first parimutuel start.
3-Lou Vuitton (7/2)-Came the back half in 55.2 at the Meadows but was pace compromised and finished 2nd. Showed enough speed to be a threat and did put in a winning line here on 7-15.
5-Total Stranger (5/2)-Takter pupil faced some nice freshman on 7-7 at M1 and had an even effort in his first career start. Finished that mile in 152 with a 26.3 last quarter. Has taken some time off, but draws well, and should be a player if dialed on high.
Race 7 (8:50 PM EST)
5-Yanaba (9/2)-Has hit the board in 9 of 18 at M1 with 4 pictures and takes a significant drop in class. Sears should have in play off the gate and the race may need to go through this mare.
6-Distance Learning (8-1)-Tritton trainee raced well to finish a close 3rd versus this kind. Andy Miller will be at the controls again and should be forwardly placed once the wings fold.
Race 8 (9:15 PM EST)
1-Sarasota Hanover (10-1)-Willing to toss the last start at PcD as the first half went in 58.2. In the previous race here, was out and rolling from this same post and faded down the lane. Looking for better with a couple of races under his belt and could benefit from an efficient trip with this post draw.
3-Miraculous Deo (6-1)-Beat 3 from this field on 6-7 with a .26 last quarter at 29-1. Won't offer those odds but should be a fair price and could win again coming back to M1.
8-Caviart Belle (3-1)-Makes its 3rd start and has looked good. The issue is possibly being over bet and the outside post. Hasn't started outside of post 5 but will use and look for a strong steer from Gingras.
Race 9 (9:40 PM EST)
4-Buy A Round (7/2)-Walner 2-year-old rolled by on 7-14 to win its debut at 17-1. Looks like a handy filly who liked the long stretch and should be in the hunt at the wire. Appears to be a clean trip away from handling this crew and doubling up at a much smaller price.
