Yonkers Raceway has a compact 9-race card to kick-off the weekend. The $1.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 6, and it will be my focus. Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
Race 6 (8:40 PM EST)
3-Lyons Johnny JNR (5-1)-Comes out of an odd race as the 3/5 chalk was last going into the 1st turn. Siegelman took back from the rail and followed 2 price shots. Then needed to come 1st over and provided cover to the eventual winner. Using and looking for better decisions from the same pilot.
5-Cold Creek Felipe (3-1)-Beat the $15k claimers now takes a good step up but there isn't anyone who looks dominant. Money showed in last and might be over bet here but Brennan could work another pocket trip.
6-Brackley Beach (4-1)-This isn't my favorite horse and its 1-26 record is cause to shy away. But this is a short field without much gate speed. My guess is Kakaley has the pedal down and tries to wire this crew, and even if successful will most likely make it an adventure.
Race 7 (9:00 PM EST)
5-Drama Act (2-1)-Beaten 2/5 chalk simply ran into a better horse in Karma Seelster and had a 2-race win streak snapped. Going first over a long way didn't help. Brennan could work a smoother trip and start a new win streak.
Race 8 (9:20 PM EST)
1-Gothic Rock (7/2)-Drops, gets post relief and should be able to hold position off the gate. This veteran needs a good steer by Boyd but should be in the mix at the wire.
2-Tyga Hanover (5-1)-Comes off a win at Philly which was aided by a pocket ride and could be in line for a similar journey. Steps up but fits in a race without a standout.
3-Cyrus N (7/2)-Raced from the back and did pace the 2nd half in 55.1. Will look for a more aggressive steer by Lachance in the 3rd start off the bench.
Race 9 (9:40 PM EST)
1-Lit De Rose (8/5)-This is the best horse but isn't a lock from the rail, my take is the veteran is better chasing a target than on the engine. Lachance could work a different trip or might be good enough to wire the field. Either way its best to not overlook.
4-Lucky Artist A (7/2)-The 10-year-old steps up coming off a win and this is the 3rd start after taking a few weeks off. Has the gate speed to either land on the point or in the pocket behind the chalk and is a main threat.
