Hawthorne Racecourse finishes the weekend with a 13-race card. The 0.50 Late Pick Late 4 starts in Race 10. The sequence has a $15,000 guaranteed pool, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 10

4-Lous Private Eye (9/5)-Not sure anyone in this field should be 9/5 or less but Lou has won a couple of races albeit they didn't take place in Stickney. Looks like a player as Leonard steers and should be forwardly placed. Can win but needs to get good position off the gate.
7-Lota Grit (9/2)-Competitive sort who also needs a smooth trip. This is a shallow field and should be racing closer to the top of the stack turning for the wire.

Race 11

5-Rock It Out (5/2)-This is a main player but might need to be on the point turning for the wire. Has enough gate speed to take control and not look back.
6-She's Magical (7/2)-Raced well in the 1st start since shipping in from Hoosier but did fade down the lane to finish 4th. Seekman drives again and he may have been too aggressive because of being bet down to a big odds-on choice. Looking for a different steer and outcome.

Race 12

6-Luckonurside (20-1)-Has won 4 of 12 at Haw and raced okay coming 3rd after shipping in from Hoosier. Should get a good early seat and be in the hunt but it's doubtful will be close to 20-1.
7-Legal Liar (6-1)-Got on the engine versus easier and drew off by over 4 lengths as an odds-on choice. Meets better and Leonard may need to work a different trip but has a shot versus this crew.
9-Hello Sweetie Boy (3-1)-Here is another Hoosier invader and makes a considerable drop in class. Shouldn't have an excuse with Wilfong steering but isn't automatic and will likely be bet hard.

Race 13

2-Marshal Malone (5/2)-Marshall went off at 3/2 versus straight non winners and rolled by with a 56.1 back half. That win was from the 8-hole. Should be a player at short price and isn't out of place with this crew.
3-Luckychris (9-1)-Watched this guy at the Red Mile and tried but was in too deep. Fits better with this bunch, has a win here and is worth a swing at the morning line price.
4-Farmers Only (4-1)-It's difficult to leave this veteran off the ticket after almost wiring the $10k claimers in the 2nd race in town. Was working at Scioto, this will be the 3rd start for team Leonard. Makes sense to use but is camera shy and will probably be over bet.
7-M I Rockin (4-1)-Team Husted pupil has 2 pictures in 3 Haw starts and beat straight NW2 with a nice rally last week. Willing to use, although is the only 3-year-old in this bunch. Steps-up but there isn't anyone in this field to fear.
