Al Cimaglia: Yonkers Raceway Late Pick 4 Analysis | Monday, September 25, 2023

Yonkers Raceway has an 11-race card to begin the week. The 0.50 Pick 5 with a $10,000 guaranteed pool rolls in Race 5. The $1.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 8, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 8

1-Nandolo N (7/2)-Raced well last week at this level to finish a close 3rd. This time, comes back in sequence and the Shane Tritton barn has been clicking. Bartlett should work a good trip from the rail and looks like a player.
2-Moonlight Kisses (5-1)-Offers a nice price and is dangerous when starting inside at this level. Brennan could land on the point off the gate and play catch me if you can.
5-American Mercury (3-1)-In the last 2 starts has finished first and lost last time by a head to come 2nd. Also, has good gate speed and can be in the hunt at the wire with a sharp steer.

Race 9

1-Idealsomemagic A (3-1)-This 9-year-old has been bumping heads with some tough customers and now lands in a spot to shine. Stratton should get on the point and could make every call a winning one. This race probably goes through this veteran.
3-Sonny Weaver N (5-1)-Sonny has been racing well and trying hard. The Cullipher entry could upset at a square price if Buter lands in the pocket.

Race 10

5-Sailboat Hanover (2-1)-This 6-year-old can't seem to win, actually has barely been cashing checks. But that was versus $50k claimers and now has enough money off his card to drop to what should be a soft spot. This is a logical use, but not totally buying in.
6-Air Force Hanover (5-1)-This veteran dropped and popped on 9-15 and did it in a big way by drawing off by over 14 lengths in a 152.1. Consistency is not a strong suit for the Deguet trainee but can't see a reason Dube shouldn't leave again. If gets on the point without a battle it could be picture time.

Race 11

1-Yorokobi N (3-1)-The 6-year-old has issues as this is only the 18th start in the last 2 years. Raced well in last but wasn't as good as the one below. Using in this spot, comes back in sequence and should have enough gate speed to protect the rail. Will likely offer more value than #4.
4-Cyrus N (5/2)-Program chalk has won 2 in a row and last week drew off versus this kind. The knock is a lack of gate speed, but Bartlett can get into striking range again and close best of all.

$1.00 Late Pick 4
