The feature at Cal Expo rolls in Race 6 as eight pacers will compete for a share of a $8,300 purse. The race is named after Bill Conlin, longtime sports editor of the Sacramento Bee and harness racing enthusiast who passed away in 1997 at the age of 84. The 0.20 Pick 4 sequence with a $30,000 guaranteed pool begins in Race 8 and that's where my interest lies.

Last night at Woodbine my posted Pick 4 ticket was spoiled in the third leg when #5-Ado Duharas lit up the board and paid $106.50 to win. Although that was the only misstep, it only takes one to spoil a ticket as the 5/3/5/8 combination paid $648.40 on a 0.20 bet.

On Friday at Cal Expo, Luke Plano and Lemoyne Svendsen each had three winners and led all drivers on the card. Kathleen Plested was best among trainers with two trips to the winner's circle.

Race 8
2-Smash-No go from the 8 hole in last and now drops, gets a big positive driver change and post relief.
5-Lil Miss Knuckles-Sizzled the last half in 55.4 but was too far back in a slow pace, so look for better tonight.
7-Moonshinenmonkeys-Drops from Open company and gets Svendsen back, looks like sitting on a big try.

Race 9
2-Directing Traffic-Grundy steers tonight and gets post relief plus needed class relief, looks like a spot to shine.
3-Miss Banjolina-Can't dismiss but has been disappointing. Luke warm chalk steps up but can win with best effort.
4-La Madawna De Rosa-Was facing better but wasn't contending, 2nd chalk gets Roland and that should help.
6-Pa's Corn Squeezin-Likes to be on the engine and Plano may land there and win at a square price.

Race 10
1-Holla At Ur Boy-Wins off a great trip and then stops in the lane. Roland sticks and can beat these with a top effort.
5-Cruisin For You-Hasn't won at this class, but is Succarotte's choice and this is a beatable field.
6-Mighty Fine Hi Ho-Raced the last half in 55.2 and Wiseman sticks. ML chalk should be put into striking position.

Race 11
1-Baylor Out-Drops after a nice effort from the 8 hole. With a good steer should be a major player.
2-Rusty Carter-Has lacked a finishing touch, but is Kennedy's choice and will respect chances.
5-Paydaze A Rockin-Svendsen between the pipes and he gets along well, will take a swing at 8-1 in the ML.
8-Real Buzz-Post hurts but should be a big price. Needs the right trip but has the speed to win.
