Al Cimaglia: Meadowlands Early Pick 4 Analysis | Saturday, December 2, 2023

The Meadowlands has a 14-race card with the 0.50 Early Pick 4 starting in Race 6. The sequence has a $50,000 guaranteed pool with a 15% takeout, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 6 (8:25 PM EST)

1-Beach Cowgirl (2-1)-Ron Burke takes over the training as the Jen B barn can't race at M1 for now. Not loving the short price and 3 weeks off between starts. But this filly is probably the best if brings a top try.
3-Talk Curdy To Me (5-1)-Last raced on 11-10 and set a lifetime mark of 150.4 which was 3 seconds faster than her 2-year-old mark. Should offer a solid price in the 2nd start for the Cullipher barn and is an interesting play.
7-Racine Bell (5/2)-This mare is by far the class of the race and this contest probably goes through her. Best to respect but at this point in her career she really shines on a smaller oval. That's my opinion but doesn't mean she couldn't down this group.

Race 7 (8:50 PM EST)

2-Imstaynalive (3-1)-Recent form is good but there are reasons not to like. Hasn't won in 26 tries this year and is 0-5 at M1. But the Burke-Gingras combo is tough to dismiss when dropping into a soft spot against a group without a standout.
3-Imaginary Line (10-1)-Has speed, fits, and finally draws inside. This is another Jen B trainer change and should race near the top of the stack. The price is right to use and its M1 record isn't shabby (27-4-7-5).
6-Building Boost (10-1)-Price shot makes its 3rd start off the bench and has been racing from the back with some quick last panels. There is some early speed in this affair and this race might set up for a closer.

Race 8 (9:15 PM EST)

2-Nextroundsonme (5-1)-Melander trainee likes to make the most of an efficient trip and does rally nicely. Just missed versus this kind in last. Has a nose for the wire and should offer a square price.
3-Toccoa Falls (7/2)-Drops after breaking in last, and that happens from time to time. But did make up a lot of ground after the miscue. Gingras takes a seat tonight and should be a main threat at this level if minds its manners.

Race 9 (9:40 PM EST)

2-Admiral Hill (5/2)-Has battled tough sophomores and has done well. Has been off almost a month and Lasix hasn't helped that much in the last 3 starts. But 2 of those races were Breeders Crown events. Should be a player with some older foes if dialed on high.
3-Whatchulookin At (9/2)-This 3-year-old banked some nice money versus Sires Stakes competition at Mohawk. Now makes its 3rd start stateside. Should be better acclimated and will look for a big effort in its Big M debut.
4-Three Grand (12-1)-Will need a big try to down this group but this veteran does well racing near the leaders and can get there with this post draw. Needs a trip but has speed and can be in the hunt at the wire.
