Northfield Park has a 15-race card with the $1.00 Late Pick 4 starting in Race 11. The sequence has a $10,000 guaranteed pool with a 14% takeout, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 11 (9:40 PM EST)

2-Northern Angle (5-1)-Dayton shipper doesn't win often but cashes check. Has the gate speed to get a pocket ride and should be in the hunt at a square price. Still looking for its 1st Nfld win but hasn't missed the board (5-0-2-3).
4-Father Ted GB (2-1)-Not sure what happened last time, finished way back and will assume all systems are go tonight. If that is the case this should be a main player as Merriman steers for the Kreiser barn.

Race 12 (10:02 PM EST)

2-Western Flames (7/2)-Likes to race on the point and often doesn't seal the deal. But against this crew should have a good chance to cash the top check. Lems shouldn't have to do any heavy lifting to get the top or the 2-hole. Has a good Nfld record (6-2-2-0) and looks a main player.
6-McVera (5/2)-Has been facing better and lands in a spot to shine. Merriman gets the assignment tonight, should leave and could land in front of or right behind the one above.

Race 13 (10:24 PM EST)

3-Speedy Dominic A (5/2)-This veteran seems to pick his spots and should be a threat at this level. Merriman could look to take control once the wings fold and play catch me if you can. But a 2-hole trip could be just as effective.
4-Carolina Beach (7/2)-This is another who should relish the company and has been cashing checks versus better. Might have the best gate speed and does good work getting on the engine.
6-Dancin Dragon (3-1)-Has been in the mix with Open Handicap company. But fits better here and gets a positive driver change with Wrenn taking the lines. Likes to win, has taken 10 pictures in 40 starts this year and has won 18 of 62 at Nfld.

Race 14 (10:46 PM EST)

4-Don't Take My Keys (7-1)-Will toss the last start from the 7-hole, gets a better post draw, and comes right back in sequence this time. Should be a threat to cash the top check, but also could be used in gimmicks at the morning line price.
5-Winning Shadows (5-1)-Usually is a player at this class and draws a choice post. Lems should have options off the gate and whether it's leaving or coming off cover its best to respect chances at a fair price.
7-Mission Accepted (7/2)-Doesn't have high-end gate speed but still wins at this level. Did so from this same post on
10-29 and could down this group if dialed on high and with a sharp steer.
