Al Cimaglia: Yonkers Raceway Late Pick 4 Analysis | Monday, December 18, 2023

December 18, 2023

Yonkers Raceway has a 12-race card with the 0.50 Pick 5 starting in Race 5. The sequence has a $15,000 guaranteed pool due to a $4,571.80 carryover. The $1.000 Late Pick 4 rolls in Race 9, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 9 (9:40PM EST)

2-Idealsomemagic A- 5/2-This beaten 6/5 chalk comes off a bumpy trip versus the same kind. George Brennan should have no issue getting on the point when the wings fold. Looks like a distinct gate to wire possibility.
8-Rocknroll Runa A 6-1-Runa offers a nice price at the morning line odds from this post, it's tough to not take a swing. Has 2 straight wins at Saratoga versus Open company coming from post 8. Might have the best chance of catching the speed and the connections are probably still in win mode despite the post draw. Driver Matthew Athearn makes the trip to steer, and he has taken the last 2 pictures with the 6-year-old.

Race 10 (10:00 PM EST)

3-Sailboat Hanover (9/2)-Comes off a no-move mile from post 8 and did beat this kind the start before from post 7. Could make the most of getting post relief and should offer a square price.
5-Tuggin On My Heart (2-1)-Went gate to wire last week versus this kind and this race should go through the Jenn B 5-year-old. Looks like a main player at a small price.

Race 11 (10:20 PM EST)

2-Sullivan (9/2)-The Koch barn is posting 27% winners in the last 30 days and Joe B should be out and rolling with this veteran. Hasn't been able to seal the deal but could land in the pocket and trip out.
5-Alotbettor N (5/2)-Matt Kakaley could look to land on the point and wire his field. That was the case last week from the same post. Took advantage of well-rated opening half and drew off and will likely use the same plan tonight.

Race 12 (10:40 PM EST)

2-Panettone Hanover (2-1)-Slows starts are an issue but with this post draw Kakaley could get away closer to the top of the stack. Wouldn't be a shock if comes 1st over to take the lead early in the mile and doesn't look back.
4-Uriel Blue Chip (5/2)-Shipped in from Mohawk and had a good debut. Came 4th but lost by less than a length and went the back half in .57. Bartlett may look to leave and get the jump on the program chalk #2.
