December 22-Meadowlands Analysis

by Al Cimaglia

December 22, 2017

The Meadowlands has a big 14-race card on tap to start the Christmas weekend. The 0.50 Pick 4 begins in Race 8 and will have a $50,000 guaranteed pool with a 15% takeout. My focus will be on the Pick 4 and it is a competitive sequence.

Last night at the Big M the drivers with the hottest hands were Jim Marohn Jr. and Brett Miller. Both pilots steered home two winners. Trainer Bruce Clarke was tops amongst conditioners with two trips to the winner's circle.

To recap Sunday's selections at Rosecroft, my 2nd choice in Race 8 #7-Kiss A Dragon won. The posted (7-8) exacta paid $34.60 with the 8/5 shot on top.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 8

3-Neon Sky N-Taking a swing with 1st time starter stateside in an open race, likes to win.
4-Carobbean Pacetry-Decent effort in first Big M start and now Dobson takes a seat.
7-Whiskersonkittens-Honest horse in good from is worth a play at 8-1 in ML.
8-Cousin Mary-Steps up but so do most. Program chalk comes off a nice win from 8 hole.

Race 9

2-Go Byem-In from DD and B. Miller steers. In form and shows 1.53 mark here at 3.
3-Bee In Charge-Drew off against easier, best to respect versus these, had a huge year in 2016.
7-Montalbano Bi-Gets Marohn back and should be in the hunt, if post isn't an issue.

Race 10

1-Give Me Your Heart-Could challenge this crew and at 10-1 is an interesting play.
3-Analyze-Another ML longshot in from Yonkers with a shot to upset at longer odds.
8-Spilling The Beans-2 wins off claim for 9-time winner, steps up but will respect current form.

Race 11

2-Iron Dome-Steps up after cruising in 2 straight, program chalk may just keep on rolling.
5-Tymal Reign-Drops to a better level after missing a start, best could top this group.
8-He's Gone-Has made breaks, but was bet some 1st start off bench. 3-yr. old has won 4 of 10 in '17.

0.50 Pick 4
3,4,7,8/2,3,7/1,3,8/2,5,8
Total Bet=$54
