Al Cimaglia: Yonkers Raceway Late Pick 4 Analysis | Monday, May 27,. 2024

Yonkers Raceway has a 9-race holiday card and the 0.50 Pick 5 goes in Race 5. That sequence has a $10,000 guaranteed pool. The $1.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 6, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 6 (8:40 PM EST)

1-Moonshine Kisses (2-1)-Ships in from Saratoga off a strong effort at the Open Handicap level. Raced wide leaving from post 8 and still crushed the field. This might not be as easy but has won 15 of 45 starts at Yonkers and George Brennan gets the call. His plan will probably be to go gate to wire. Last raced on May 18 and gets a post edge on the 8/5 chalk Nandolo N, and Rocknroll Runa A hasn’t race since May 6th.

Race 7 (9:00 PM EST)

2-Pound For Pound (5/2)-Won going gate to wire last time and was claimed by the Laterza barn. Gets a positive driver change in Brent Holland, moves inside from post 6 and should be a main player most likely at a small price.
3-Big Dream Fella (5-1)-Looked good winning its 3rd straight versus $30k claimers last time. Got a sharp drive by Brent Holland and proved to be the best down the lane. This is the 1st start after the claim with the Stratton brothers and could be in line for another pocket trip with the same result.

Race 8 (9:20PM EST)

2 Im A Powerplay A (6-1)-Should offer a decent price in what could be an otherwise chalky leg. Closed nicely in last and this race should have some honest fractions. Will respect chances, finally, did show improvement in its previous start.
3-Ideal Beach (5/2)-Dropped and popped in Philly, ships into Yonkers and may have woken up. Fits with a good effort, Jason Bartlett is at the controls and that won’t hurt.
4-Imstaynalive (9/)5-Seldom wins, since 2023 is 1 for 33 but that win came last time at Pocono and equaled its lifetime mark of 150.1. Brennan steers for Ron Burke and should be in the pocket or on the lead off the gate. May have landed in a double up situation and will need to swallow the short price

Race 9 (9:40 PM EST)

3-Human Cocktail (7/2)-Yannick Gingras had the pedal down into a 27 second opening quarter and got to the half in 56.3 Will lean toward those fractions being too much and now regular pilot Matt Kakaley steers. Looking for a smoother, well rated-trip and to have more gas in the tank down the lane.
4-Dance On The Beach (9/2)-Comes off a bumpy trip on May 13th but this race should set-up differently. Joe B has the gate speed to land on the point or in the pocket behind Human Cocktail. Either option could lead to a trip to the winner’s circle.
