Aqueduct Cancels Racing through January 7

OZONE PARK, N.Y. - The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) has canceled live racing on Thursday, January 4, Friday, January 5, Saturday, January 6 and Sunday, January 7 at Aqueduct Racetrack, due to a winter storm followed by three days of extremely cold temperatures and dangerously low wind chill values forecast to impact the New York City metropolitan through Sunday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning until 1 A.M. Friday, January 5, and is forecasting winds gusting as high as 45 miles per hour with snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches. 

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Friday, January 5, Saturday, January 6 and Sunday, January 7 with current forecasts calling for dangerously low wind chill values to continue impacting the New York metropolitan area through the end of the week. 

Due to the severity of the winter weather, training at both Belmont Park and Aqueduct Racetrack will be closed through Saturday, January 6

Live racing is currently scheduled to resume at Aqueduct on Thursday, January 11.
