Hoosier Park has a 15-race card with the headliner being the $300,000 Dan Patch Stakes. The feature rolls in Race 13 while the 0.50 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 12. The sequence has a $30,000 guarantee pool, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 12 (10:06 PM EST)

3-Bettor Than Spring (8-1)-Hasn't been finishing off miles but from the inside and at this price will use. This will be the 4th start for the Tyer George barn and the Ohio invader may find it less taxing tonight to land on the point.
5-Machdavid (7/2)-Not sure Mark MacDonald will look for the lead when the wings fold but should get a close-up seat. Could double up and has a pilot who can provide an aggressive steer.
10-Big Wheels A (3-1)-The Cullipher trainee struggled versus better and then cashed the top check when dropped to this level. Took over early on and didn't look back. Will respect chances of winning again even though starting from the 2nd tier.

Race 13 (10:38 PM EST)

3-Buzzsaw Russ (5/2)-Indiana bred has won 2 straight versus Open company and will be tested. Does have a home field edge and can close like a jet. The faster they go early on the higher the likelihood of cashing the top check.
6-Rocknroll Runa A (7/2)-Got through on the rail at M1 to roll by everyone at a huge price of 68-1 in the Sam McKee. This horse usually races on smaller ovals although trainer Larry Stalbaum says he is better on a big track. Needs a trip but should love the long stretch in its Hoosier debut.
7-Coach Stefanos (4-1)-Local hero has banked over $783,000 at Hoosier Park and is only a 4-year-old. Trace Tetrick will have the Erv Miller pupil in striking range. Should be a main player and has hit the board in 24 of 29 at HoP with 14 pictures.

Race 14 (11:07 PM EST)

1-Angel Hill (2-1)-This mare has been dominant since shipping in from Northfield and joining the George barn. Has won 3 straight since landing in Anderson and appears to be a clean trip away from taking its 4th picture.

Race 15 (11:32 PM EST)

1-Rocket Russell (3-1)-Puts in a dull start every now and then and maybe that happened last week when not able to hold on down the lane even though the fractions were kind. Will respect the connections and look for a big try from the rail.
2-Dirty Image (6-1)-Stayed inside and took advantage of an efficient trip to roll by with a 54.2 back half. Comes back versus the same kind and could get the same type of winning trip.
8-Rockin Marty A (9/2)-Dropped and popped as a big odds-on chalk and now this post helps the price. Team Macomber veteran can grind out it and rally down the lane. Needs a lively pace and a sharp steer but should relish the company.
