The Sunday night card at Hawthorne will feature an Open Trot with a $10,000 purse which will roll in Race 7. That's also the first leg of the 0.50 Late Pick 4 sequence with a $20,000 guaranteed pool.

Last night the driver who took the most pictures was Sam Widger as he bagged four wins. Trainer Tom Simmons led all conditioners with two trips to the winner's circle. My selections below for this evening go three deep in every leg.

The Pick 4 pool at Cal Expo was much larger than usual as it totaled $65,918. My strategy was to go a little deeper as some of the morning line chalks didn't thrill me. Well, I was correct in my thinking but it didn't lead to a profitable outcome. The posted Pick 4 ticket at Cal Expo unraveled in the opening leg when #1-Shark Festival stormed home at 8-1. My selections did connect in legs 2-4 as the 0.20 Pick 4 combo (1-8-5-5) paid $160.28.

2-Picky Picky Valor-Raced gamely in last and may handle the step-up in class from this post.
3-Loucispher-Was handled conservatively in 1st start off the bench at this class, best will be tough to beat.
7-Swan Handicap-Got on the engine and faded late in 1st start at Haw, will respect chances off that effort.

Race 8
1-Maserati Seelster-7/5 ML chalk went by 7 foes down the lane and fits well with this group.
4-Want Me-Comes off a sharp win and connections are having a nice meet.
8-Bestnotlie Hanover-Mowed them down off a slow pace in 1st start in a month, could be better tonight.

Race 9
1-Forsumoddreason-Off since 9/24, 2-1 ML chalk seems to have speed. Won't dismiss, but will look to beat.
4-Parked And Rolling-Raced on the lead in 1st start and faded, could be tighter and better tonight.
8-Armani Code-Taking a swing with a 10-1 shot in an open race. Trainer Simmons had a nice night on Saturday.

Race 10
4-Dragon Jewel-One of two from the Willis barn that fits, and is 9-1 in the ML.
5-A Real Doozie-Top earner from 2017 and if ready should be able to be a major player versus this group.
6-Hope Hotspur-Other Willis trainee was Franco'c choice, with a good early seat could take a picture tonight.
