The co-features at Hawthorne roll in Race 3 and Race 8, the Cicero Claiming Series Finals, each with a $12,000 purse. The 0.50 Late Pick 4 sequence with a $20,000 guaranteed pool begins in Race 7, and will be my focus.
On Saturday night driver Casey Leonard led all pilots with three trips to the winner's circle. Casey's dad Terry was the top conditioner, as he teamed up with his son to take three pictures.
Last night at Cal Expo, my posted Pick 4 ticket was correct in only the first three legs. The 0.20 Pick 4 combination of (5-1-4-1) paid $74.84 and the pool was a hefty $58,602.
Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
Race 7
4-Chantilly Lace-Camera shy but has competed in 2 starts here, will take a swing at 10-1 in the ML.
8-Oh Josephine-The #10 should leave and looking for an early move to get a good seat.
10-Getoutthediamonds-Winner of 3 in a row will be tough to beat if minds manners.
Race 8
1-Electric Albert-Should be on the engine or in the 2 hole and could trip out at a square price.
2-Want Me-In form and is a major threat with a good cover flow.
8-Maserati Seelster-Even money chalk has won both local starts, will need best from 8 hole but deserves respect.
Race 9
2-Lotta Richess-Fits with this group and this is the 3rd start for Ode, looking for a big try.
7-Wildcat Bobby-3rd local start and Leonard in bike for 1st time, looks like a player at 5-1 in the ML.
10-Double Stitched-Program chalk has good gate speed and takes a significant drop, best to respect.
Race 10
4-Road Rage-1st local start for high percentage smaller trainer, has speed and now tries a bigger oval.
5-Talents Marvel-Raced big off the bench in 1st local start, looks to be in the mix.
8-Cuinthepurplerain-Lightly raced 4-year-old was sharp last week in NW1, and looks like the one to beat.
9-Et Tu Brute-3rd start for Hansen and previous 2 were sharp, post makes the price.
