Yonkers Raceway has a 10-race card and the $1.00 Pick 5 with a $10,000 guaranteed pool rolls in Race 5. The $2.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 7, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 7 (8:45 PM EST)

2-Blue Lou (2-1)-Steps up after taking charge off the gate and coming home with a 55.3 back half. Now, faces the same kind as 2 back. Just missed by a head of winning that night and could seal the deal this time.
6-Mossdale Ben N (4-1)-Jordan Stratton picks off #1 Ultimaroca the Gillis entry who he usually steers. He chose the Peter Tritton trainee who is looking for its 3rd straight win in as many starts in the US. Lasix seems to be helping, went the back half in 54.4 with a 27.1 last panel. Not sure how good the 7-year-old old will get, and will still respect chances of winning again on the step up in class.

Race 8 (9:05 PM EST)

4-Verdun (5/2)-This is the 3rd start off the bench and has raced well coming 2nd in both races. Looking for a more aggressive start and may seal the deal if closer to the lead around the last turn.
5-Ammo (5/2)-The Burke 5-yr-old has been really sharp in both starts coming off a layoff. Won last week against this kind and lost by a neck in the previous race. Yannick Gingras should have the pedal down and has a big chance to double up.

Race 9 (9:25 PM EST)

1-Twiggs Pub (5/2)-Finished behind a well-meant winner last week and outraced its 12-1 odds to finish a beaten 2nd. Has hit the board in 4 of 11 at YR, hasn’t posted a win but did come 2nd three times. Could be in a spot to trip out and hopefully won’t be over bet.
2-Laz (3-1)-Beat this kind at 32-1 from post 8 and was last at the half pole. ANap may leave tonight and could win on the engine this time.
5-Flip My Chip (7/2)-Might offer a square price in the first start for the Laterza barn after getting hung the mile in last. Brent Holland takes the lines, and he should get a up-close seat off the gate. The veteran could bounce back and take a picture after finishing 8th last week.

Race 10 (9:45 PM EST)

2-Just Plain Loco (4-1)-Raced evenly to finish 3rd after working hard in the opening quarter playing hard ball with a 1/2 chalk who ended up winning. Has been going back and forth between YR and Stga and now makes its 2nd straight start on the Hilltop. George Brennan should get into striking range at the top of the lane. Probably won't be stuck on the rail and could have more juice left.
6-Im A Powerplay A (6-1)-Stayed inside versus the $40k claimers and cashed a 3rd place check in the 1st start for the Quevedo barn. This outfit has had the veteran before, now drops back to face $30k claimers, and will look for a big try.
