A $38,384 pick 6 carryover as well as a $10,522 super hi 5 carryover are in the offing Friday at Del Mar. Today's feature is the Real Good Deal Stakes for Cal-breds in Race 6, one of my spotlighted plays.
Del Mar - Race 5
#8 Ultimate Hy: Her form isn't heading in a great direction, but she has some room to bounce back on the move over to the turf. Price should be OK in hopes she reverses form.
#7 Illhaveanotherkiss: She's another who needs to find something better than she offered last out, but the turf routes on her page offer some hope for a rebound here. I wouldn't be too excited, but I also wouldn't argue too hard with
anyone looking this way.
#4 Empress Ellie: Tactical pace has been pretty tough with claimers over the last year, and her baseline looks about as good as any in here right now.
Race Summary: Ultimate Hy and Illhaveanotherkiss both need to reverse form, but I think they may be ready for better. Ultimate Hy was way too close early in that Los Al run and didn't fire, but this is a better game for her.
Del Mar - Race 6
#7 Western Freedom: He's back to his best game right now after not staying involved late going long on the turf, and I like the way his dirt form was heading earlier this year. Good spying trip should be in the cards.
#5 Speedy Wilson: Not much to argue about here, as he just handled one of today's main threats listed next. Another who should be in line for a great trip watching the pace unfold.
#2 Shea Brennan: He's in really good form right now and wouldn't be any surprise, just think that one or both of the top choices are going to get a jump on him while he turns back.
Race Summary: Western Freedom gets back to his best game today on the dirt, and he looks like one of the main players here if you draw a line through the last one.
Del Mar - Race 7
#6 Regarding Harry: He's probably too light for these, but the last one wasn't all bad, and he's got a bit of tactical pace that could leave him in a perfect spot for a first-over run. Price should make the swing fun.
#9 Mav Man: Nothing serious from him at 9/2 in the debut run, but he has room to come forward off that run for a team that is capable with these types.
#1 Vodka Vodka: Could see him getting a pretty cozy run of things from the inside while tucked in behind the quicker players early, and but he'll need to be ready to fire off the year break.
Race Summary: Regarding Harry ran OK in his turf debut at Turf Paradise last time out, and I wonder if he has a claim on this one from close range at a nice price.
