February 5: Hawthorne Harness Late Pick 4 Ticket

by Al Cimaglia

February 5, 2018

Hawthorne deferred to the Super Bowl, so it was dark on Sunday and will conduct a rare Monday night card. The main event rolls in Race 6, an Open Trot with a $10,000 purse. The 0.50 Late Pick 4 sequence has a $10,000 guaranteed pool, it will begin with Race 7 and will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 7
3-Elite Awards-Last was better than it looks, faced strong headwind and trip wasn't the best, will respect chances.
5-Kc Rambuctious Boy-Likes the track and likes to win. Drops to a level for success and now Leonard steers.
9-Want Me-Post is a challenge for ML chalk but comes off dominate wins. Bates choice over the 7 & 8.

Race 8
4-R Duneshine-Nice win at 3/2 on 2-1 at this level, same effort could be good enough for an encore.
7-We Rob Banks-Comes back quickly to race again, and soft pace hurt last time. This race could set up better.
8-Vital Terror-Won with a 57.2 back half and with a good trip is a major threat versus this crew.
9-Bettormeboy-Faced #8 but was too far back in a soft pace. Bates may blast out, not much speed inside.

Race 9
1-Schwarber-Expecting a big try in 4th start after being turned out. Fits with these and gets post relief.
4-Madewell Hanover-Program chalk comes off best effort of meet and should be a big threat.
8-Louscipher-2nd time Lasix was the charm and 4-year-old could stay good for a while.

Race 10
1-Rockin The Baby-Last was better and 3rd start off the bench may lead to an overdue win at a square price.
5-Dune On Time-Drops to a more comfortable level, gets a good post draw and Coleman's barn has warmed up.
7-Jewels Hall-Will take a swing Franco can work a trip in a competitive race and look to beat the chalks.

0.50 Late Pick 4
3,5,9/4,7,8,9/1,4,8/1,5,7
Total Bet=$54
