Al Cimaglia: Yonkers Raceway Late Pick 4 Analysis | Monday, August 25, 2025

Yonkers Raceway has a 9-race card to begin the week. The $1.00 Pick 5 with a $10,000 guaranteed pool rolls in Race 5. The $2.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 6, and it will be my focus. Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 6 (8:25 PM EDT)

1-Tip Top Cat (3-1)-Shipped in from Oak Grove and put in 3 races against better and cashed small checks. Takes a big drop from the Invites and finally draws inside. Using, because it would be no shock if the Burke trainee wakes up tonight.
2-Admiral Hill (9/5)-The Admiral is only 1-9 this year and had mixed results in the last 3 races since returning to town. The small price is tough to swallow but Jason Bartlett should have the opportunity to go gate to wire once the wings fold.
7-Soho Dow Jones A (6-1)-The Dilloian trainee steps up after wiring the $15K claimers. Loses Bartlett, and that will help the price as Colin Kelly is a suitable replacement. This will be a test but could post a win with an aggressive start. Has the gate speed to get on the point or to get a pocket ride, and could be up to the challenge of beating better.

Race 7 (8:45 PM EDT)

1-Aye Aye Captain N (5/2)-Interesting race and the team Ricky Bucci entry should be in play from the start. Doesn’t need to be on the engine to take a picture and Brent Holland could be stalking close by the leader at the top of the lane.
3-Steet Hawk N (3-1)The Scott Blackler pupil was close versus this kind 2 back and is in fine form. Last week, went a strong gate to wire performance versus NW20KL5. Steps back up, Colin Kelly sticks and should offer a fair price.
4-Hemsworth (7/2)-Jared Bako veteran steps up after a sharp win rolling the back half in 55.1 Has been very good in 2 of the last 3 races and the only exception was when drawing the 8-hole. Beat better than this in the spring and best to respect here despite moving up in class.

Race 8 (9:05 PM EDT)

1-Dunkin' (4-1)- Last year’s version of Dunkin' may have been worthy of singling, but is only 4 for 21 this year. Has had excuses and does face tough company so deserves respect. If dialed on high George Brennan could slam the pedal down and not look back.
3-Soho Firestone A (4-1)-Beaten favorite might be overlooked. Landed a pocket ride in last but could not catch Jamaica Rock who was a well-rated winner. Could land in the 2-hole again but can also win coming off cover and the fractions could be hot.
4-Jamaican Rock A (2-1)-Scott Blackler Aussie bred had had a winning Yonkers debut last week. Got on the point and controlled the mile going to the half in 57 seconds for the 4th straight win. Maybe some will hold the slow fractions against it. But, not going to let the 4-year-old beat me after drawing a choice post.

Race 9 (9:25 PM EDT)

8-Catalpa Rescue A (2-1)-Here is another Blackler Aussie bred. The 6-year-old made his debut with a sharp win coming off cover. Stopped the clock in 151.4 with a 54.2 back-half. Bartlett should have in a position to double up and it looked like there was more left in the tank after drawing off by 3.5 lengths.

$2 Pick Late 4
